There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. It's so sad for the unfortunate death of your son and a brother to the siblings. We didn't have the opportunity to stay with Steve for long in Uganda but for the 4 years, he had a great impact in our lives, really focused and i should say he died as a HERO for America but more so a HERO FOR CHRIST. I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. ONLY GOD KNOWS WHY THIS YOUNG MAN WAS TAKEN. ONE DAY WE WILL FIND OUT. ON JANUARY 22, 2007 WE LOST OUR SON-IN-LAW IN IRAQ. HE WAS IN 2/7 CAV AND LOVED BEING A SOLDIER. Mr. and Mrs Raderstorf,
I was browsing the Arizona Republic a week or so ago, and noticed a special being done about the 100 Arizona soldiers taken since the war began. A name in the background caught my eye, and my heart sank. Stephen J. Raderstorf was my battle buddy when we left Phoenix MEPS, and shipped to Ft. Benning for Basic Training. I only had the chance to know him for a couple brief weeks, but he was a shoulder I leaned on while we experienced our initial transition. I'll never forget the friendship he gave me, and his enthusiasm to serve. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I want you to know that he set an example for me. He's a man I'll never forget meeting, and I'm glad to have known him. Thank you so much for raising a son to be proud of.

It took some time for me to find this guestbook and to choose the right words to write to you. My husband worked very closely with your son both at Ft. Hood and in Iraq. He was deeply saddened by his loss as am I.
He spoke often of Stephen and his enthusiasm as a soldier. He also spoke of how no matter the circumstances, you could count on him to provide a ready smile and lift everyone's spirits. His presence will be missed by all of those who had the honor of knowing him.

Dear Pator Jim, wife Sharon, and family,
My family and I would like to offer you our deepest sympathy over the untimely passing of your young son Stephen. We can not imagine the grief you must be feeling over losing a son at such a young age. Our son Justin served with Stephen in Iraq, and was the medic who attempted to save him. This experience has profoundly changed him as he was deeply saddened over the loss of not only a fellow soldier but a friend. He sent me an email with something he wrote expressing his feelings and emotions over dealing with this experience. It was the most powerful thing I have ever read. While he was not allowed to release his name to me I managed to scour the internet and find you. I really just wanted to take a moment and reach out to you and offer my families deepest sympathy and condolences to your family. Even though we have never met and we did not know Stephen, we felt the need to reach you and felt a connection with you through our sons. May God bless each and every one of you. My family and I will continue to pray for you, your family, and all the boys over there.

To the Family of Cpl. Stephen J. Raderstorf:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.

Stephen was a good friend of mine and my boyfriend, Spc Greg Gilman. Both of us are heartbroken and Greg said a few words at the memorial in Iraq. He was such a kindhearted person and always made everyone laugh. May he watch over Greg and his battle buddies until they all come home.

On the other hand, We feel honored to be a part of the celebration of His life yesterday. His life touched so many people, and will continue to so.

Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy regarding the loss of this Brave Warrior, unknown in this war torn country, so far away from home.
May they learn his identity so this family may have the peace and comfort needed for this un consolable loss.
May this Hero rest safely in the Care of God. He Will Never Be Forgotten.
There is and never will be enough ways, to humbly thank these service men and women, who are willing to serve so far from home, knowing the dangers involved. I am the sister of a Vietnam Hero, KIA-1967.
