To whom it may concern,
I was Keith's 1SG back on 12 January 2008, I'm just now seeing this site. I think about Keith all the time especially on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. I would like to reach out to Keith's Family, but don't know the rules for this site. The last time I spoke to Keith's parents was on 12 January 2008, one of the hardest phone calls I ever made.
God Bless you Keith, we miss you, and may God Bless your Family.

Time marches on we all grow older. You my wonderful nephew are forever young. What we all would give to get to watch you grow old with the rest of us. Ten years flew bye now but with you it seems just like yesterday. I believe you are with all the others who have passed on before you and since that fateful day your life was ended. Your dad has now joined you and one day the rest of us will too. You are still loved and missed. There never was enough time for any of us with you but especially your mom, sisters and brothers. Missing you always.

It is now 9 years it seems like you were just with us in my mind I still can see the baby, toddler and I see clearly all your growing years. I see the young man who stood up in my wedding the brave man who enlisted. I also feel the loss of your presence and I see the effect on your family. Your mom and sisters and brothers miss you so much. I know your watching down on them but please be ever watchful over your mom and dad they both need you so right now. Loving you always your Auntie Cora.

Keith,

Not a single day goes by that your memory is not in my head. Today is a day to be concerned about barbecues, amusement parks, or some general relaxation before the work week. Today is the day to remember the fallen, the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Today I walk around with a smile on my face trying to hide the pain in my heart but I know you wouldn't want that for me or any of us who served with you brother so I wanna say thank you brother. Thank you for all you have done for your country, your unit and the U.S Army. You are truly missed brother

To the many family and friends of this great american. Yesterday was a day I will always remember. The world was robbed of a magnificent soldier, brother, and son. Now he shines down on us from above and I know watches the backs of his brothers at arms. PFC Lloyd you are truly missed by those whose lives you have crossed during your time here. May you rest in peace

To the family of Pfc. Keith E. Lloyd:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org Special rates for nearby hotels will be available. For more information call (651/286-7296) or email the office ([email protected]) and leave your name and contact information.

Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Saturday 25 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sunday, 26 May, a “Prayer Vigil for Peace” will be held in the sanctuary of the Chapel. You are invited to stop by, light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one's cross in the Memorial Garden … and then enter the Chapel for prayer.

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Respectfully,

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Keith, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

The pain is still present to this day in fact it may be greater knowing that so many loved ones lost such a great person and I lost a hell of a soldier. We all ate Lunch today as a Platoon but no one bought up the incident we'd rather celebrate your life than mourn your death. We love you brother and you will always be apart of our Platoon and I know you are the one who has watched over us all this time making sure we stayed safe. Hey Keith! I was recently reviewing a few photo cd's and came across the cd where you had spent Thanksgiving 2006 with our family here in Lansing, Michigan. It was so great to see you again...happy, smiling and laughing. I see you everyday as I look up at our family portrait that hangs on my wall and it saddens me to know that you are gone. I recall our brief conversation regarding you enlisting into the military. We ended our evening with good food, good times and good company that will forever be remembered. When you left my home the following day I wished I'd had hugged you tighter! You are a great family friend and we all miss you very much Keith! To the family of Pfc. Keith E. Lloyd:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Memorial Day Sunday worship service at 11:00 a.m. on 25 May, 2008. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the neighboring states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain, LTC Kenneth L. Beale, Jr. will preach a message entitled “The Price of Freedom” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and place poppies at each of the crosses. An honor guard squad will be on hand to fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played.

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (612/970-7866) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans’ name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org

Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Sat. 24 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sun. 25 May, a “PrayerVigil for Peace” will be held. You are invited to stop by and light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one’s cross in the Memorial Garden, then enter the Chapel for prayer.

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Respectfully,
Leila Campbell

Cora,

I know it has been a long time since we have talked and it has been some time since Keith has passed. I came across an article of another soldier and remembered that often the paper had these guest books to leave a message in. Occasionally I visit the guest book of Jesse and remember all of the good qualities people admired of him. I hope that someday you will read this and know that my thoughts and prayers were with you. At the time I had giving birth to my first son and was not able to make it to his service. I wish I could have… I want you to know I am here for you as you were there for me when Jesse passed away. Keith was a very open and free spirited man. All of the other entries are very true! He was the type of person who always lit up the room when he entered. He will always be missed.

Hopefully someday we will meet up again…. Nicole Mrazek

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Lloyd Family,
Words cannot express my sorrow for all of you. I went to South Milwaukee and am truly saddened to here of another of my classmates gone. Only God and family can comfort you at a time like this. Keith was a wonderful person and we truly lost a great one! My sympathy to all of you. To Keith, May the wind be at your back and the sun light you way always! You are gone but never forgotten!

January 28, 2008

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

My greatest regret in life is not to have seen Keith before he left for Iraq, to say a prayer with him and to have had Beav smudge him. I will miss him all the days of my life. May the Great Spirit Watch over all of you and give you all peace. He was my nephew but he also felt like one of my own, as to all my nieces and nephews. I love you all and once again I want to say I am proud of the dignified way you handled his passing, the compassion you had for others who were also grieving with you and thank you for always sharing him the rest of us. He will never be forgotten he lives in all of you and a little bit of him lives in all the lives he touched. He was truly a remarkable young man! He lived his life for today and enjoyed it to the fullest!

I was floored when I heard the news of Keith's death. I worked with him at Piggly Wiggly in Oak Creek and got to know his mom from there too. Keith ALWAYS had a smile on his face and ALWAYS made me smile too. Even when he would come in to Piggly Wiggly to cash his checks from Farm and Fleet and I would give him a hard time about not having his check cashing card. I will truley miss his smile and his laugh. My thoughts and prayers go out to Cindy and the rest of the family. I will remember keith always.

I still have a hard time coming to grips with the reality of his passing. This is probably the greatest loss I have yet sustained in my life; I know I will never forget him. Keith was my battle budy - my roommate, my figurative second brother, my closest friend the past 11 months of my new life in the Army. From the day we signed out of MEPS and left for basic, and all the way through this deployment, sharing so many moments with Keith taught me several lessons in having a big heart with a carefree spirit and a short memory for wrongs endured. There will never be another man like him. Deepest condolences and shared sorrow with his family and Amanda. HHT 1/3 here sends their best as well. Keith, I hope I'm half the man you are one day, buddy. I owe you. -Chris

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
