Hello,
We wanted to let your family and friends know that we are sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and some of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Phillip R. Anderson US Army Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Sgt Anderson,
As I sit here my mind is on you and on our many fallen comrades as it is much of the time. This time I have mixed emotions because of the fact that the American flag has now been lowered and the war in Iraq is officially over. Part of me is sad because of the 4500 or so Service Members that gave their lives. Part of me is glad it is over. Through the deployments this conflict has transformed the face of armed conflict forever and though we no longer will occupy that country after 31 December the sacrifices of you few will not be forgotten. Our country will end a chapter in it's history but we will memorialize you forever. Rest In Peace friend and until we meet up at Fiddler's Green..... Law Dawg... OUT.

The Cavalrymen's Poem
Halfway down the trail to Hell,
In a shady meadow green
Are the souls of all the dead troopers camped,
Near a good old time canteen. And the eternal resting place
Is known as fiddlers Green.
Marching psst ,straight to Hell
The Infantry are seen.
Accompanied by the Engineers,
Artillery and Marines,
For NONE but the CAVALRYMEN
can Dismount at FIDDLERS GREEN.
Though some go curving down the trail
To seek a warmer scene.
No trooper ever gets to Hell
Ere he's emptied his canteen.
And so rides back to drink again
With friends at Fiddlers Green.
And so when man and horse go down
Beneath saber keen,
Or on roaring charge of fierca melee
You stop a bullet clean,
And the hostiles come to get your scalp,
Just empty your canteen,
And put your pistol to your head
And go to Fiddlers Green.
Warner is totally following in your foot steps.

She knows you are there, by her side, through it all. You are missed greatly, Phill, and you always will be. Thank you for what you did for our country. As I scrolled through the list of men and women that have lost their lives while trying to share the same ideals and hopes of a free nation with other less fortunate parts of the world, I came upon the picture of your loved one, Phillip. His picture caught my eye because of the little hand resting on his shoulder. Many of us who don't have a direct connection with the War in Iraq seem to forget that these men and women have families, wives, husbands, children....I just wanted to take the time to say Thank You to your loved one for being an American Hero and a role model for not only his own child, but children all over the world. I guess what I am trying to say is that these lives that are lost will never be forgotten and that your loss was not in vain. God Bless you and your family....You will forever be in my thoughts and prayers.

My brother is PV2 Michael A. Baloga of Everett , WA and was a cavalry scout also stationed at Fort Hood, TX. He was killed by an IED last July in Iraq. My brother and Phillip are buried really close to each other at Tahoma. I just wanted to say thank you to Phillip for his sacrifice and my love and sympathies to his family. Our boys were true heroes and will be missed so much. I will be bringing extra flowers for Phillip when ever I go to visit my brother Michael.
We thought of you with love today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.

The Home of the Brave Quilt Project has as its goal to remember every individual lost in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts with a memorial quilt for the parents (and wife, if the person was married) of the Fallen One. It is our way of letting a family know that their son or daughter, dad or mom, wife or husband, is remembered and appreciated for the sacrifice they made for our country. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I am so sorry that Phillip will no longer be with you in body but he will always be with you in spirit, watching over you. Phillip was unbelievably brave and courageous. He is truly a hero and he will never be forgotten.
Here is a passage from a poem, written by Phillip's Grandmother, that has been brought to my mind by this tragedy.
"May sorrow tread lightly your pathway,
May you carry a song in your heart
Though its breaking from grief you have suffered;
From others we always must part."
I know Grandma and Papa were there to welcome Phillip when he arrived in Heaven.
Rest in Peace,

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor

where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

At this time words cannot express how deeply sorrow I am for your loss. Dear Melanie and Warner,
I know I've already posted a message on here, but I am so moved by what everyone has said about Phill. He was an amazing man, husband, father and soldier. I will never forget the time he knocked on my door and said he was there to watch Schyler for me until you got off work. I thought, "wow, what a guy!" You two were such a great pair, but now you and Warner will have an angel watching over you. Phill will never be far from you. God bless you, Phill and Warner for your ultimate sacrifice.

I am so sorry for the loss of this brave man and soldier. I know his dad, and know how proud he is of Phillip. It is too humbling to be a civilian and know that wonderful young people like Phillip are putting their lives on the line each day to protect our freedom and way of life. I pray each night for all our troops, and add an extra prayer for this young man and the family he leaves behind.

So many days we hear the news of soldiers and civilians dying in Iraq. Now it was someone whose father is a co-worker and it makes the reality hit home. I am so sorry for Ken, Phillip's wife and child, his mom, his sister, all his relatives and all his friends, especially the soldiers he was serving with. I know from others here at Ken's place of employment that Ken was very proud of his son and Phillip was proud of his country and his family. I have lost loved ones but never a child or spouse. I cannot imagine the pain. But I do know that all the caring thoughts and words do help. And so I wish to add mine to the list. I wish you all lots of love and support through this very painful time.

Many, Many Thanks.
Thank you all for your expression of sorrow for the loss of my son Phillip.
Phillip was so much more than the Army but the Army made him so much more.
He was an example of loving what you do and doing what you love.
Overtime the pain will deminish but the memories are everlasting.
Phillip was as gentle as a kitten but the one you would choose to protect your back in the fight of your life.
I will miss you but you will never, ever be forgotten.

To My Only Brother, Phillip:
We are two branches of the same tree. We share so many memories...things only we could know, that will forever stay secret in our hearts. We share a special bond that grew stronger through the years. Looking back on things we've done, I realize that some of my happiest memories are of times we shared together. Thank you for being a treasured part of my past. I miss you as part of my present. And now, I just wish you could be part of my future.
There will always be a special place in my heart for you -
My Brother and My Friend.
Always your big sister,
Beth

Phill,
Words cannot express how much you will be missed. Thank you for your dedication and service to this country. Not only are you a hero to this family, this country, but you are a hero to to this ones you loved the most...Melanie and Warner. Please rest in peace Phill, especially knowing that Melanie and Warner are surrounded by this family that will always be there for them. I wish that I had more time to get to know you, but I did enjoy and will forever remember the time I spent with you. Thank you for making my cousin so happy when you were with us, and for one of the cutest little boys I know, Warner.
You will never be forgotten. I am proud to be your cousin.
Love you,
Dani

Dear Sgt. Anderson,
Thank you, Hero, for your bravery and courage. Thank you for your greatest sacrifice. It will not go unnoticed. It is you and your commarads that continue to "let freedom ring". I'm sure my son served with you, as he is with the 1-7 CAV, 1BCT, 1CD out of Ft. Hood.
Sleep and be at Peace.
An Army Mom.

I am a friend of Phillips father, Ken Anderson. I know how proud Ken is of Phillip and his devotion to his convictions. I would like to express my deepest condolences to Phillip's wife and the rest of his family including my good friend, Ken. As one guest here wrote, Phillip is a true HERO. We don't have many heroes in in this world. I salute Sgt. Anderson as an American hero.
Ken, hang in there, stay proud of your son and the legacy he leaves. Look to your friends when you get back home. We'll be there.
