As I only hear of this movie "American Sniper" I have yet to bring my self to watch it but I set here reminiscing the times of brotherhood, I through a rub in my lip and can think of only SGT Gilmore for he was a true American hero and made our mission possible for he was always ready for everything thrown his was. lay at ease, rest in peace our brother.

Sgt Gilmore has been in my mind this week. A new movie is out that shows some scenes about our tour in Iraq. The movie shows the construction of the wall around Sadr City. This wall was a critical part of the war strategy in 2007-2008. Sgt Gilmore made significant contributions to the effort on this wall. This is what he was doing when he was taken from us. He often told me that he was ready.....for whatever the lord had in store for him. I'll never forget his words or his willingness to give all.....Rest in peace our brother.

Thanks Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Childers. I never had any doubts that Terrell would be "Forgotten." I showed our Mother the entires from Legacy, (she just got her first ever computer) and she was touched by all the kind words of support after 4 years. Again, thanks and pass on to the Maj. I spoke to Terrell several hours before he was killed, and was in the convoy that got hit ...he will always be my brother in arms. I want you to know that a squad of his brother soldiers of the 851st engineers said a prayer for him that night, out on a little combat outpost in Sadr City-- and bade him Godspeed. Jack Cates is what we called him. I was his section sergeant while serving together in germany and Fort Carson co. from 1990-1993. We served in desert storm. In 20 years of service Gilmore was my most memorable soldier. He had a charismatic and infectious personality that impacted our unit in a wonderful way. I knew him to be a young man who was mature beyond his years, who loved and respected life and people. I had tried to make contact with him unsuccessfully over the years and am deeply saddend to hear of his passing. Our prayers are with you all. To my dear and loving father. Im sorry that it took me so long to come write but i couldn't just find the words to say. I know that we didn't have the perfect father daughter relationship. I wanted things to be right the lord knows i did. I thought that I would always have the time to make our relationship better but I guess the Lord didn't agree upon that. When those soldiers came to me to tell me about your death my heart sanked. I just didn't believe it. I remember the next day after I cryed myself to sleep. Well, Terrell I have now found the strength to accept that you are no longer here for our two children and no longer able to speak with you on the phone or in person however, you are still and always be in our hearts. I know I haven't visit your grave since the funeral b/c I'm still dealing with you no longer with us and can't seem to get the strength and courage to visit. I ask God every day to give me the strength too come see you; I will be there soon to come visit. Eventhough you and I were divorce, we always had that special friendship/bond that no one could ever understand. We love you but God loves you more and he no longer wants you to suffer but have everlasting peace. My heart is still heavy and look to God for strength to go on. SGT Gilmore, it was always a pleasure to serve with you. A calm demeanor and hard work were traits of your service with our unit. I always considered you a friend and a good soldier. My daddy was a kind hearted,strong, out going person. When my dad was down here in town for work release he came and got me almost every day. i would just be waking up and he'd be pulling in the drive way. One time it was about 7:00 am and he came why i was sleep and would n't leave until i got up. well the point that im trying to get across is that was the best two weeks of my life and i will never forget. i miss and will always, always love you.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.

Where do I start wehave known each other a life time. From Zion City Elementary to Glen Oaks High School. I could never seem to shake Mookie. Thank you for all the summers we spent together as I was growing up and yall babysat me & Chuck while my parents went to work. I was reflecting back on some of the letters you wrote me when you were in Desert Storm. You always tried to look out for me. Even as an adult with a family of my own, whenever you would see me you automatically went into big cousin mode. I appreciated that. I miss you. I can still hear you saying "there goes my pretty little cousin Connie".

Sgt. Glimore was a good person that had a warm heart with a smile on his face. I worked with Terrell Gilmore at Angola prison for many years. I will miss him. I wondered where he was a couple of years ago. I didn't see him at Angola but figured he must have went to another prison to work. My heart goes out to the family. You will be in my prayers. Good bye to a good solider and a friend. God has him now. One day we will all see Terrell again in Glory.
