The thing is.... With G around there was never a time you weren´t laughing or smiling. His smile and laugh were so contagious that if he was there you was laughing and smiling. I remember times I had to walk away cause my face hurt from laughing and smiling too much.

Rest easy brother! You are never forgotten!!

G-ski you will always be in my heart, and forever remember as a great soldier, and friend. You were one of the most kindhearted, selfless, and hardworking soldiers I've had the pleasure of working with. I remember talking to you for the last time in Taji right before we rolled out on our way to Tallil. I told how glad I was to have you back in our platoon after your time working in headquarters up in Warrior. I was there with you on your final day, and as painful as it is, the memory of that day creeps into my mind nearly everyday. Even now over two years later. I will never forget you, I have a KIA bracelet with your name that I wear everyday in your honor. You were an incredible man take from us all far too young . Rest in peace buddy.

Mr and Mrs Gulczynski,
My name is SGT Enebrad and I had the uttmost pleasure of working side by side with "G-ski". Throughout my career I have never had a better Soldier under me. I miss his smile and jokes. He was much taller than me and when he saw me would pick me up just because he could. I wish the best for your family and will always remember Lenny. As we prepare to come home it is extremely hard to leave this place without him, but i know he is better off. I was Lenny's first NCO and he made my job easier. God bless you and you will always remain in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm just sitting here at work thinking about my nephew Lenny. I still can't believe he's gone. Now there is an empty space in our family where he used to be. He was number 5 of 21 cousins. Lenny was a great kid and grew up to be a fine adult. We are very proud of him. Not just because he was a soldier, but because he was a good person. I look at his smiling face everyday and still have a hard time imagining him not being here, especially at family functions. Lenny would laugh and goof around with all of us, but mostly with his cousins. Our world was shattered when he died, but memories of him keep us going. We will love and miss him always.

To the family and parents of Leonard I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

I am so sorry for the lost of your dear loved one. It's comforting
to know that God cares for all of us and losing a loved
one is something we cannot get use to. The Bible gives us hope
that one day we can see our dear loved one again. On behalf of all mankind Jesus surrender his soul for many. John 15:13 says “No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul on behalf of his friends.” Truly I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dear loved one and I hope these few words will bring you comfort and hope.

Lenny was so proud to be an American Soldier. He came into this world as a fighter and he left it fighting for his country. Words Can Not explain how proud we are of our son. He is a true hero as well as all of those who have served and those who are serving their country now. “Got Freedom-Thank the Military.”

On behalf of our family we would love to thank everyone for all the support, cards, flowers and most of all prayers for our son Lenny. Lenny is and always will be a part of our hearts. We are amazed at how much our community has embraced us at this time of such great loss for us. We have also received numerous cards and letters for all over the country. The Army has also been wonderful in helping us. Many thanks to the media for telling our son’s story, the entire Village of Carol Stream, West Chicago Police and Fire Department, the Wheaton Police and also to Bartlett High School and Tefft Middle School for taking care of our other children as they mourn for their "Big Brother". Thank you also to our family. They have been nothing short of phenomenal. We love you all.

Dear Mike and Jackie,
Seems like just yesterday I read about your son Leonard leaving for Iraq. It was at the same time that our son Corey was leaving for Afghanistan, also in the army. We are so very very sorry for your loss. Loosing a child has to be the most terrible thing that can happen to parents. I can't even imagine loosing a child and I hope I never have to.
I have tried to write this for days and I just don't seem to be able to put my thoughts into words.
I would like to offer my sincerest sympathy and condolence. We are so very sorry for your loss.
And thank you Pfc. Leonard J Gulczynski for your service to our country.

First off, I would like to say that my condolences goes out to Lennys family and friends.

Although it has been almost six years since I last saw Lenny, I can still remember his bright smile and the times we spent together in class. You are in a better place now and you shall rest forever in peace Lenny. One day well meet again.

Through the years that I had known Lenny, i found him to be one of the only guys i had competition for. it wasn't for volleyball, it wasn't for football. It was for being the nicest, and happiest kid around. I almost never saw him without a smile on his face, which is why he has helped change so many. he helped brighten up the world. just one look at him you would think "There are better things out there if this guy doesn't stop smiling. so to Lenny's parents-thank you kindly for raising up such a wonderful young man that could change the world with just one smile. and to Lenny-I WILL see you again!!

Lenny, I cant believe your're gone. You were like a brother to me and I only really knew you since 8th grade. I'll always remember when we broke into that house on shoe factory road in the middle of the night to find ghosts and that I had to go in first. Or that dumb video we made with Scott for Mr. Lorber...I dont even know what we were making a video about. You would always call me Ben-Jay! and I would call you 50G's, from your scholarship. Lenny you will be missed by all. It still shocks me that it happend to someone i know, but you were going something you really believed in. Im so proud of you and I know you were a great solider.

I've known Lenny since we went to Spring Trail together. We weren't close, but he lived two blocks from me and was my next door neighbor and good friend Matt's best friend. I'm gonna miss the days of him and Matt running around my yard playing war, or hiding and trying to scare me, or having pellet gun or squirt gun fights, tying up our little sisters to trees, or doing all of the other crazy things they used to do to me. It hurts to lose someone that had such a positive impact on so many people. Lenny was an awesome person and he will be missed. He will always be a hero, and I thank Lenny and his family for that. R.I.P. Lenny.

Ever since I've met Lenny in middle school he's been smiling and making everyone around him smile too. I remember when we all went over to Massey's for 8th grade graduation and we all learned that the water balloons don't break so easily. But for some reason that didn't matter, we still had a great time and Lenny was still laughing while we all looked at the welts we got. He was always so much fun to be around and I'm proud of him for being so brave and serving our country. I'll miss him a lot and remember all the fun times. My heart goes out to the Gulczynski family. Lenny was a great guy, that none of us will forget.

When I think back on my senior year of high school, the funnest time that I had was any of the times I was with Lenny. Whenever I was in a bad mood he made me smile even shared his jamba juice with me. He had the greatest smile and greatest laugh in the whole world. If you ever heard it you would laugh right along with him.

He was so obsessed with Bohemian Rhapsody that I actually started to grow tired of that amazing song. Now everytime I hear it I will always think of Lenny singing along at the top of his lungs.

Lenny was an amazing person and I can't believe that this would happen to him. I love him and will miss him forever.

Lenny and I go way back to elementary school, 4th grade, Mrs. Warwick's class. I almost remember it like it was yesterday. Running around the playground and not giving a care in the world. Lenny and I also got confirmed together. In the halls of our high school we passed each other and always said "Hi". He never failed to smile. I miss Lenny dearly. He was such a great guy and no one could say anything bad about him. He truly touched many people's hearts and a hero like him could never be forgotten. Lenny will be always loved and deeply missed.

My condolences to his family and those others who were much closer to him than I was. May he forever rest in peace and in our hearts.

I do not know what to say.
I grew up with Leonard's father and Aunt Debby, who were themselves very caring people. They came from a wonderful family who shared and cared for their family and community.
Just knowing Lenny's grandparents , mom and dad leads me to believe that Lenny was one heck of a person.
I just want the family to know that I appreciate what Lenny's has done for our country and that my heart is aching for their loss. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Respectfully,

I have never met anyone so special, talented, and HAPPY in my entire life. Anyone could spot you in a crowd, and we could hear your laugh from a mile away. We had so many memories together, starting when we were in the 2nd grade. We grew up together, ate twinkies together, and when we where in high school....We knew that on every half day we would go to the movies, and find the stupidest movie that was playing, and just laugh until our brains where about to explode You inspire so many people everyday, and I really hope you know that so many people love you,and miss you. You fought for our country so we could still have our freedom. You worked your tail off, even if you hated cleaning that gun of yours. You lived everyday knowing exactly what you signed up for. We love you so much, and we miss you. I know you presence is still here, I feel it everyday. I hope your watching from above proud of everything you ever did for us.

God bless Gulczynski family, you are in my prayers,

All my love,

Lenny was one of the greatest teammates I've ever had. Not because he was the best player and not because he was the greatest leader I've ever seen, but because he always came to work hard and he never complained. Every great team deserves a man as amazing as Lenny on their team. He played because he loved to play and that was clear to everyone that was on his team. He will truly be missed by anyone he's ever encountered.

My Condolences,

When I got stuck playing middle for the Bartlett volleyball team junior year I was really upset because I didn't like the position at all. I strongly believe that the only reason I ended up having fun was that I got to play opposite of Lenny and practice and learn from him every day. He always knew how to pick you up when you were down and could always put a smile on your face. To me, he was a great teacher and an exceptional friend.

Lenny and I played volleyball together for three years, but he was so much more than a teammate. He was a great friend a leader who each of us could look to in every part of our lives for a laugh or just for a friend. He will never be forgotten, and not a day will go by that we will not remember his wonderful smile and joy for life. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Lenny was a outstanding example how a human should act. His manners were absolutley top notch to match with a positive attitude that ideally everyone would posses in a utopia. If a friend was needed Lenny was there and wouldn't turn anyone down and would show only kindess, and I feel I must attest that I never saw or heard of Lenny saying anything derogatory of another person, their beliefs, or ideals.

Tradgedy is often a term misused on petty accidents and problems, but Lenny being removed from this mortal realm so quickly is truely a tradgedy.

my sincerest condolences are given to anyone who even met Lenny, and especially those close to him.

Lenny and I played volleyball for 3 years he put so much passion into the game and could always pick up the team when we were down. I'm positive that he took his courage and leadership overseas when serving for his country.

Lenny....

You made a big difference in my life. You made me smile when you smiled. I miss you so much and each day i look at pictures and all the memories we had together. I remeber all the times where you would make me jump on you and you would carry me because my boyfriends couldn't. Lenny i dont know what i would be like if you were not in my life. And i will also remeber the time when you would dance you were always shy but you broke out of that once rico mombo came out. You have made a differance in so many peoples lives. We all miss you and WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!!!! I promise every year i will visit you and tell you all the things that have happened. There isn't a good memory in my senior year that doesn't involve Lenny. His smile was contagious. I didn’t matter if I was in a bad mood or not. Lenny always made me happy. He gave me so much courage and he made me so proud to be his friend. I have never met anyone so dedicated to his country. I remember going to the dunes and helping him memorize all the things he had to before going to basic. He was smiling, unbelievably happy, and proud throughout that entire process.

Lenny is my inspiration. He was a happy kid who did whatever he wanted to become happy. He had such good morals. And he died way to young. I will never forget Lenny. It’s not possible.

I am going to miss Lenny I remember him from Cub Scouts when we were young and from High School he always talked about going into the Army he did what he loved and nothing more can be said of him than that.

This was at Lenny's going away party. =(

Lenny was such a great kid. His family lived on my block for years, I would remember Lenny's house was the house with the cool truck mailbox.
Lenny was also in my P.E. class my senior year, he would always give me a hard time because I was a girl and I tried really hard.
"Jenni, why are you trying so hard, you are the only girl giving any effort, plus its P.E., you can still have fun without giving too much effort." and then he would laugh and smile, and everyone knows he would make everyone else smile with that huge grin of his.
I was very lucky to get to know Lenny very well the past 3 years because I was dating one of his best friends, I am so fortunate to have had Lenny in my life. Rest in Peace.

Lenny,
I will always remember the good times because honestly every outing with you was a good time.
I will always remember the days you'd call and ask if 'the wall' was getting together lol.
Your smile and freshing personality will be truely missed.
You were my friend and I am so thankful for having been the chance to know you and be in your circle of friends.
It was truly an honor and I will never forget you.

Gulczynski Family,
When I received the message from BHS the tears came. I could not believe it. I had never personally met Lenny but have known Jackie from Carol Stream & BHS softball and Mike from the Rebels (Carol Stream baseball). I remember thinking about Lenny and praying for a safe return just before he left for duty.
May you find comfort in your memories of Lenny. Our thoughts have been with you each day.
God Bless
