Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Corey M. Shea US Army Specialist.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

Tonight at a yoga benefit we all gathered to raise money for the Home Base program as well as pay tribute to those soldiers who have fallen. I was given Corey's name on a card and I lit a candle in remembrance of his service and sacrifice. I have deep gratitude for his sacrifice and send my condolences to his family and friends for their loss. When I came home from the benefit I looked up his story and although I never met him, I will keep him in my thoughts always. Rest in Peace Corey.

From one who may not have ever met you in person Cory, but reading all I have about you, your adventurous, loving, and courageous life, I know you were a young man of compassion and love for all those you have ever met and touched with your life and presence.

I know you were "a very special person in life" and great comfort to your mom over your younger years as I've come to learn and I see this from and in the extraordinary length your mom went to, to ensure she will have you by her side for all eternity.

I may not have known you personally Cory, but knew your mom many, years ago before you were born and I know the goodness in her was passed on to you. Each day that rare few who have and hold that special kind of goodness are not with us are still always on our minds, in our hearts, and memories ... forever ... as you are indeed missed!

Go forward on swift wings with great pride of remembered friendship's Cory as "you are and never will be alone" because of those of us who care and remember an honored solder, a close friend, and ... "a loving sons ... spirit."
"We live on through you"

My thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to you Denise. To you and your family I share your pain and lose, my dear and never forgotten friend...

Sincerely and Respectfully,

Denise/Kristen,
Julie, Nikki, myself and my mother went to visit Corey yesterday. As per usual, his plague was surrounded by nice boutiques of flowers and baskets. We added a poinsettia which was just a reflection of the times. We also witnessed who I would assume was a passed or present serviceman who was going grave to grave adding a penny to every Plaque. Corey will never be forgotten. Stay strong in his memory. We miss you and him and hope to see you and Kristen soon.

Dear Corey Michael Shea's Family,

Tonight at sunset I visited the cemetery where our sons' stones are in the same row. The most beautiful huge white roses are towering over Corey's grave!

I am overdue in writing to tell you how sorry I am for the loss of your young, handsome, courageous, and patriotic son. I live near the cemetery and go there a few times a week. I always notice Corey's grave and how decorated it is, and I can tell he is very loved and missed.

Maybe we will meet someday, but for now, please know that I think often of your family and Corey. Our children are heroes, and we are so proud of them.

If I only knew it was you. I was standing outside on the sidewalk at the High School. This must of been the day you spoke to the students. I wasn't paying attention what i was doing and walked right into this man with a very strong stern face. i said I was sorry. You said No probelem Mam. While you were walking into the school I kept looking at this Man an I just couldn't put my finger on it. I had this feeling that I new this person. I realized it was you when you turned to open the door of the school. Cory if I knew this Strong solid man was you . I would of ran to you with arms opened for the hug you always gave me. I wished that happened. I miss you Cory. Everytime I see a funky blue calvalier. You always come to mind. I miss you my lil goalieman. I'll always will keep you in my heart. Been there since I met you. Very Proud of. You became the Man I knew you would be.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith:
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

Dear Brave Spc. Corey M. Shea,
Twenty- one years is not enough time to forget the pain we all as Americans feel at your passing. We your fellow citizens are left with an empty spot in our hearts. We wonder why our best are sent into harms way. We wonder why God allows these things to happen. What we know for sure is you have made your mark on this world in as brave a fashion as can be expected. For you left us while serving your fellow man. We cry for one who was so dear. We remember the smiles and tears we shared as you developed into the man you became. And now you rest in peace in the loving arms of God. There is no more pain. There is only the waiting time, until the sweet breeze which is God's breath brings your loved ones to you, and you once again look in their eyes and see their pride in you reflected back. Sleep well dear son, until your family is reunited once again. Remember that you are loved and remember that you are missed. Your duty is now over. You have done your best. You have done well.

I sign this book for my son Capt. Rowdy Inman who was in command of "Iron Hawk" 3rd Sqd. 3rd ACR who was killed 26 Dec. 2007. I am sure that he was in contact with your son, so in his name I would like to express graditude for your sons service to our country. As a mom I also know how you are suffering now, it never goes away it only becomes a "friend" as someone told me, I am still waiting for that day. As the Holidays are coming and looking forward to their return your life is turned upside down, know that the Lord loves you and will be watching over you with love as you go thru the trying days ahead. Contact me later and I will give you the address of a family in Maine that took pictures of the Reg. on their stop over there before leaving for Iraq. Again I am truely sorry for your loss.

I am so sincerely sorry for your loss. This seems such an insufficient statement, but it is true. As a Mansfield resident, I teared up at the story of your beloved son, brother, and comrade. My own cousin, Sgt. 1st Class Jared C. Monti, is also unfortunately listed in this guest book - he was killed in Kabul, Afghanistan in June, 2006. It has affected me and my family very much, and honestly, has changed the way I live my life to this day. Please know that your son's sacrifice will NEVER be forgotten and we will forever remember the very dear sacrifice that he made. I wish you much love and prayers during this challenging time, and I sincerely hope that Time will help to heal you, your family, and all those who knew Corey.

The price Corey and his family have paid, Will Never Be Forgotten. May he Rest Safely, in God's Care and may the Peace of God be with the Shea family.
I am the Sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago

"Surely He hath borne our grief,
and carried our sorrows."
~ Isaiah 53:4 ~

May you find comfort and strength, in the beautiful memories of times spent with Corey.
Quietly and gently, may healing come, with each new day.
You are in my thoughts and my prayers.

For the Commander, Carroll R. Michaud

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Spc. Corey M. Shea our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Corey. And to Corey it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made in combat while serving the U.S. Army and his country. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Corey, you are a brave Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,409 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Corey’s family and loved ones.

Dennis N. Engdahl, Commander, American Legion Post 14
