Elizabeth Lee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home on Mar. 1, 2026.
NORTH ATTLEBORO – Elizabeth Ann "Betty" (Wood) Lee, 75, a resident of North Attleboro for the past 48 years, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 21, 2026 after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of 38 years to the late Gregory W. Lee, who passed away on November 22, 2013.

Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on May 4, 1950, she was the loving daughter of the late James A. and Jane E. (Lyle) Wood. Betty grew up in Holyoke and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She furthered her education at Westfield State University, where she completed her undergraduate studies, and later earned her master's degree from Bridgewater State College.

Betty devoted her professional life to education. She taught third grade for many years in North Attleboro, first at School Street School and later at Community School, where she remained until her retirement. She was a dedicated and compassionate teacher who made a lasting impact on generations of students.

Deeply committed to youth development, Betty served for many years as a Girl Scout leader for her daughter and numerous other young girls. She also served as director of the Martha's Vineyard camp, creating meaningful experiences and lifelong memories for those in her care. In addition, she volunteered with the National Historic Society and was active for many years at Evangelical Covenant Church, now Beacon Covenant Church, in Attleboro, where she played in the church bell choir.

Betty loved to travel. She and her late husband Greg especially enjoyed cruises together, and she treasured a special trip to Italy with her girlfriends. She had a deep love for Cape Cod and the beach and faithfully enjoyed an annual Cape trip each year with her family.

Above all, Betty cherished time spent in the company of her adoring family. She especially loved being "Grammy" to her grandchildren, delighting in activities, outings, and everyday moments shared together.

She was the devoted mother of Jennifer Winrow and her husband Thomas of Mansfield, and Christopher Lee of North Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother of Lily Winrow, Samantha Winrow, Maci Lee, and Joey Lee. She was the dear sister of Laurie Smith of North Attleboro and the loving aunt of Heather Desilets.

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are most warmly invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, beginning with a time for visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in Beacon Covenant Church, 841 North Main Street, Attleboro. A memorial service officiated by the Reverend Chris Wall will be held in the church following the visitation at 11:00 AM.

Inurnment will follow in North Purchase Cemetery, at which time Betty will be laid to rest with her late husband, Greg.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home, North Attleboro.
