Barbara Kernan Obituary
Barbara Kernan, 46, formerly of Bethlehem went to meet her Lord on October 27, 2008 in San Diego CA. after a courageous bout with cancer. She was the daughter of George and Anna Kernan of Bethlehem. She graduated from Freedom High School in the class of 1980 where she was on the school gymnastic team. Barbara received her RN Degree from San Diego State and served as a school nurse for a number of years. She was also a licensed mortician and started her own business named Thresholds. Survivors: Other than her parents are her daughter, Jessica of New Zealand; son, Jared of San Diego; sister, Mary Ann Wood of Vermont and her close dear friend Eric Putt of San Diego. Services: A memorial service will be held at the Cathederal Church of Nativity in Bethlehem at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008. Contributions: Can be made to the Cathederal Church Of the Nativity, 321 Wyandotte St. Bethlehem, PA 18105.

For Barbara's family-
I am so sorry for your loss. Although I did not know Barbara personally, her work has touched and changed me. As a fellow nurse, I hope to follow her example in my life and work - she is an inspiration and will continue to be so in the future. Please know that when we think of her, we will also be thinking of you. Thank you for sharing Barbara's life with us.
May you find comfort now and in the days ahead ~ you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kernan, Mary Ann, Eric and most especially Jessica and Jared,
I cannot begin to imagine the grief you are all suffering with Barbara's/your mom's death.
It is almost incomprehensible that someone so effervescent and full of life could be taken from the world so unnecessarily and early in life.
To this day, most of my happiest memories involve Barb, she was probably the first person I ever truly loved outside of my own family members. She was creative and talented in so many areas, a source of light to so many, deep and contemplative one minute and joyously spontaneous the next.
Her laugh and her smile will hold a special place in my memory forever I hope.
Jared and Jessica, I met you two summers ago in my store in Philadelphia, you were both a wonderful reflection of your mom. I couldn't help admire the obvious mutual respect, friendship and values the three of you shared.
Your mom adored you. She deserved to see your lives evolve and to see you mature and develop as individuals much longer than she was able to. You both surely deserved to have her support and source of love and strength for much longer than you did.
I can only hope that the love she imbued you both with will carry you forward as if she never left this earth.
My thoughts are with the whole Kernan family and Eric.
