John Wulf Obituary

John Scott Wulf died Thursday, June 28, 2007, in a local hospital. He died a painless death and was surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Butte Sept. 27, 1940, to John Scott and Louise (Mikels) Wulf. He graduated from Butte High School in 1959 and proudly served his country in the Army. He returned to Butte in 1972 and worked for 35 years at Wulf Realty and numerous insurance companies, most recently Henningsen Insurance Agency.

He had an unmatched zest for life and a magnetic personality that drew people to him. An avid skier, runner, hunter and outdoorsman, he lived every day as if it were his last, managing to fit 14 days of activities into a seven-day week. John was a member of several clubs and organizations including Mile High Nordic Ski Club, P&M Running Club, American Legion Post 1, and Sunrise Kiwanis. He organized many runs and races such as Wulfman's Frigid Digger Run and the Veteran's Day Road Race. He volunteered with Senior Olympics and was recently honored by Special Olympics for his support and volunteer work. He was a faith-filled Christian man always ready and willing to help others.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise Wulf; and parents-in-law, Frank and Iris White.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Judy (White) Wulf of Butte; son and daughter-in-law, John Scott and Kerri Wulf of Custer, Wash.; son and fiancée, Justin and Julie Wulf of Chicago; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Troy Lopuch of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, McKenzie and Brooklyn Wulf of Custer, Wash.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and Earl Sholey and Louellen and George Marinovich of Butte. Also surviving are his aunts, Marguerite Worten of Hollywood, Fla., and Marie Graham of Ellensburg, Wash.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank and Rose White, Donna and Larry Campanella, Elaine and Rod Holm, Ron and Melody White, all of Butte, John and Peggy White of Colstrip, Cheryl Collins, Jim and Shelley White and Debbie and Colton Beard of Idaho, Beverly and John Orr of California, Rich White of Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Cremation has taken place in Butte. His family will receive friends after 5 p.m. Sunday in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home. Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Heikes officiating. Entombment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Special Olympics, Mile High Nordic Ski Club or to a charity of the donor's choice.
