Martha McAlister Obituary

Martha Waldrop McAlister -ATHENS - Martha Waldrop McAlister, 90, died peacefully September 14, 2007 at Grandview Care Center. She was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth and Kirby Jackson Waldrop. She was born and raised in Jasper County, Georgia. During the war years, she and her husband lived in Charleston, SC, moved to Griffin, Georgia and then in 1955 moved to Warner Robins. Ill health forced her to move to the Athens area to be close to her daughters. She left her heart in Houston County and read the hometown newspapers until her final days. She took great delight in the growth of Warner Robins and she enjoyed everyday that she and her dogs lived on her beloved Kingsbury Circle. -She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold McAlister, Sr., son, James Harold "Bubber" McAlister, Jr., brother, George Lamar Waldrop, and son-in-law, Glenn Fowler. -She is survived by her two daughters, Daisy Elizabeth Bennett Fowler of Watkinsville; Mary Caroline Harrell (Max) of Athens. Other survivors are her sister, Mary Jones, Athens; brother, Oscar Waldrop of Barnesville; grandchildren, James E. Bennett, Jr. (Lucy) of Blue Ridge; Darlene Elizabeth Bennett of Watkinsville; Julie Caroline Harrell Boucek (Bill) of Charlottesville, VA; Trent Goolsby Harrell (Lauren) of Athens; Carly Anne Harrell Harvey (Garrett) of Charlottesville, VA; and her great grandchildren, James Daniel Bennett, Meghan, Elizabeth Bennett, Hendley Caroline Boucek. -A celebration of her life will be held Monday, September 17th at First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins at 4P.M. Dr. Jimmy R. Asbell, Jr. will officiate. -In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins, 205 North Davis Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.

To "Mrs. Mac's" Family,
I used to work at Dr. Smith's which was located behind her house. She was such a kind and wonderful lady and we all in Dr. Smith's office loved to visit with her and her dogs at the fence. I have missed talking to her since she moved from Warner Robins. My prayers and thoughts are with her family. I loved you Mrs. Mac.

To Mrs. Martha's Family
I was so sorry to hear of Mrs.Martha's passing. She and I became pals when she was residing at Magnolia Estates. I always looked for her when I visited my uncle who lives there. We had some great conversations. She was a beautiful lady. I can only imagine all the wonderful memories you all have to cherish.
God give you comfort during this time.
