Virginia Funk Obituary

Virginia B. Funk, 87 FALLBROOK -- Virginia Funk passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 of age related illness, native of New York. She is survived by her son, Michael (Nancy) Funk of Roseburg, Ore.; daughter, Shelley (Don) Neuss of Livermore, Calif.; son, George (Robin) Funk of El Segundo, Calif.; grandchildren, Bill, Alexis Camilleri, Justin and Hayley Funk, Jason, Sara and Jared Neuss, and Christopher Tiernan; and great-grandchildren, Tara and Austin Funk, Tegan and Carter Camilleri, and Spencer and Sawyer Neuss. Virginia served proudly in the US Navy as an Illustrator with the WAVES in WWII. She was a long time member of Women's Clubs, both in Prescott, Ariz., and Fallbrook, Calif., where she served as their Literature Chairperson. Virginia was also a founding member of the Scarlet Feathers chapter of the Red Hat Society in Fallbrook. Virginia was a freelance writer who had written columns such as "Over 50 and loving it," and "Leash & Collar," that had been published in North County newspapers. Virginia also co-authored a book titled The Complete Akita. Virginia loved dogs and raised and showed German Shepherds. She was an American Kennel Club judge for many years. She was an extraordinary woman for whom family was everything and she will be greatly missed. A family memorial service is planned for a later date.
