Marcus M. Alto, Jr. "ORALE!" 06/16/1925 ~ 10/13/2010 ESCONDIDO -- Our dad, Marcus M. Alto, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Born June 16, 1925 in Escondido, Calif., he was the eldest son of Marcus R. Sr., and Ernesta Alto. Marcus was in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in Normandy, Northern France, and Central Europe as an infantryman. He received several medals including the Purple Heart. He worked at Camp Pendleton in Civil Service, and Base Motor Transport as a bus driver, retiring after 25 years. Marcus enjoyed spending time with his families and his friends, and going to and watching his San Diego Padres and Chargers. He also loved going to the casinos and traveling, especially to Las Vegas and Hawaii. Marcus was a native of Escondido for 85 years. He was a tribal member of the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 149 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
