Please accept my deepest sympathy. Ms. L'Engle was a favorite author of mine.

A wrinkle in time was perhaps the most important book of my childhood. After reading it I would wander through parks with friends puzzling over and lecturing on what I understood about the nature of time. They eventually made fun of me, but my questions led to a love of physics and a degree in electrical engineering at a time when girls didn't really do that. Since then I've read almost everything she's written. I can't really call my self christian, but her books on christianity opened up a new world of spirituality for me.
I cryed when I read the news. I never met her, but I miss her deeply.

I never knew Madeleine L'Engle personally but came to know her through her many books including "A Wrinkle in Time" and the "Meet the Austin" series and then in college I discovered "Walking on Water" This is one of my favorite quotes from that book,"Why then, in some evangelical colleges where I have lectured, are there "Speech Departments", and the students produce and act in plays, but the department cannot be called "theatre", because theatre is wicked, and not true". Being a Christian and one who is involved in theater, this book had special meaning to me as Madeleine knew how important the arts is to one of the Christian faith.

Although I did not know Ms.L'Engle personally, I send condolences on behalf of Alpha Kappa State, Connecticut of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Ms. L'Engle has been an esteemed State Honorary Member of The Society since 1984.
We are proud to have had her as a member and valued her work. She will be remembered at ceremonies of life at our state spring convention and at our International convention this summer in Chicago. Our deepest sympathy is sent to her family.
Sincerely,

Thinking back to years and years ago in New York, Madeleine L'Engle was an inspiration, even if only as an acquaintance; then later, she was a favorite of my daughter's, who excitedly had her autograph a copy of Wrinkle. Rest in peace...
