DEMPSEY--Raymond Vincent, 75, of Bridgewater, CT, on October 15, 2007, of Aplastic Anemia. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Kimball), father of Raymond, Caroline Gravanis, and Elizabeth Walsh, brothers Vincent, Robert and sisters Kathleen, Frances and Virginia, and seven grandchildren. Born in NYC on May 17, 1932, Ray was a graduate of Fordham College where he later received a Master's degree in Journalism. He started in the advertising business in 1958 and in 1964 joined Young & Rubicam, Inc. where he remained for 22 years. He started as a copywriter and rose to become a Senior Vice President and Associate Creative Director of Y&R New York, Creative Director of Y&R Detroit and Creative Director of Wunderman, Ricotta & Kline, Y&R's directresponse subsidiary. In 1986, Ray and Dave Cramoy left Wunderman, Ricotta & Kline to start AdDirect in Westport, CT where Ray was CEO and Creative Director. AdDirect was a division of the Marketing Corp. of America and subsequently Ally & Gargano. AdDirect was one of the country's first integrated marketing communications agencies serving clients such as Walden Books, SNET, Showtime, and The Movie Channel. Ray retired in 1995 following the company sale to North Castle Partners. At this time, he relocated from his home of many years in Weston, CT to Bridgewater, CT. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, October 27, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Main St., Bridgewater, CT. A wonderful man whose life revolved around his work and family. Kind, gentle, lacking in pretense, his memory will always be cherished by those who love him.
