Charles de Trenck Obituary

1920 - 2007
Charles de Trenck, born in Moravia in 1920 , died November 1st in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is survived by his son Charles of Hong Kong, daughter Alexandra Glasser of Fort Lauderdale, and his grandchildren Charlotte, Thomas, and Arianne . Charles lost his partner of over 50 years, Mary Elizabeth Irvine de Trenck, in January 2006.
He was a resident of New York City, Geneva, Switzerland, Scottsdale, AZ, and Fort Lauderdale. Charles came to the US in 1942 and served in the US Army, after having served in the French Army before it was disbanded at the outset of WWII. He later began a career on Wall Street at Bache Securities (1952 - 1958), after running an Army jeep re-sale business and working in real estate following WWII. By 1964 he was at American Express and moved his family to Switzerland, where Charles ran two private banks between 1965 and 1973. Charles's optimism, good humor, generosity, and deep sense of honor were appreciated by all. There will be a memorial service at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 4595 Bayview Drive, Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday, November 10th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

It was an honor and privilege knowing Charles & Mimi. Whenever I think of them, I think of the fun times that we spent in Scottsdale & Edmonton. Their legacies and the good memories will remain with us forever.
