Rebecca S. Reed BRIDGEWATER

Rebecca (Shaw) Reed, 95, widow of Wilford Hunter "Jack" Reed, of Bridgewater, died Saturday, August 30, 2008, at the Bridgewater Retirement Home.

She was born July 1, 1913, in Timber Ridge, a daughter of the late John William and Sarah (Swink) Shaw.

Prior to retiring in 1971, Mrs. Reed was employed by the Waynesboro DuPont Plant for 30 years. She served on the DuPont Board of Directors' Union, and was a past mem-ber of the Augusta Woman's Club.

Her husband preceded her in death on February 19, 2004; and her son, Wilford Hunter Reed Jr., died in 1955.

Surviving is a nephew, John C. Shaw Jr., of Springfield; and two nieces, Lucille Eubanks of Charlotte, North Carolina and Peggy Dickerson of Roanoke, Virginia.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tues-day, September 2, 2008, at Thornrose Cemetery by the Reverend Jeff Kerr.

At the request of Mrs. Reed, there will be no public view-ing.

Memorials may be made to the Bridgewater Retirement Home, Inc., 302 N. Main Street, Bridgewater, VA 22812.
