Sarah R. Criser

Sarah R.Criser, 82, of Mosely Street, Waynesboro, and a resident at Shenandoah Nursing Home, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the home.

She was born December 9, 1925, in Lansdowne, Maryland, a daughter of the late William Taylor Joseph Reid and Margaret Meek Reid.

She was a retired secretary with G.E and Genicom, completing 25 years of service. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and was the church choir director for 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Franklin Criser on March 4, 1983; son-in law, Roger Dale Harris; sisters, Edna Corell, Zelma Pangle; brothers, Richard Reid,William Reid and Charles Reid.

Survivors include a son Ernest F. Criser II of Waynesboro; daughters, Carolyn C. "Connie" Harris of Waynesboro, Sally C. Money of Chesapeake, Ann M. Criser-Shedd of Waynesboro; a brother, Robert L. Reid of Waynesboro; six grand-children, six great grand-children and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted 5 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008, at the Second Presbyterian Church by the Reverend Dr. John L. McDonald. Interment will be private for family.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008, before the service, at McDow Funeral Home.

I haven't heard Sarah Crizers name for 50 years, but when I did, I thought of her fondly. I knew her from church and she also taught my sister and me piano lessons. My thought are with you at this time.
