William Eugene "Gene" Wolfe

William Eugene "Gene" Wolfe, 74, of Waynesboro, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville.

Born September 4, 1934, in Augusta County, he was the son of the late William H. Wolfe and Junior B. Watson.

Mr. Wolfe had been employed as a heavy equipment operator with the City of Waynesboro where he retired after 12 years of service. He was also a member of the Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren in Dooms.

In addition to his parents a sister, Edith Warren, preceded him in death.

Survivors include three sons, William Clifton Wolfe and fiancee', Elaine of Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania, Charles H. Wolfe and his wife, Debbie, of Waynesboro and William E. Wolfe Jr. of Crimora; two daughters, Glenna L. Cason and her husband, Jerry, of Fishersville and Debbie S. Cusson and her husband, Chuck, of Waynesboro; two sisters, Joan Hughes of North Carolina and Ann Dameron of Hampton; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2008, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with the Reverend Scott Conrad officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Mr. Wolfe's grandsons, Mike Cason, Jeremy Cason, Josh Wolfe, Brandon Wolfe, Mike Wolfe and Mike Cusson.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008, at the funeral home.
