Virginia Pugh AFTON

Virginia (Farrar) Pugh, 86, formerly of Afton, passed away, Saturday, September 27, 2008, in Shenandoah Nursing Home, Fishersville.

Born Tuesday, October 4, 1921, in Afton, she was a daughter of the late William "Bill" and Grace (Wood) Farrar. Virginia was the oldest member of Rodes United Methodist Church, Afton, where she participated in, and was a member of the Ladies Sunday school class.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Glen W. Pugh; two brothers, John H. and Wesley E. Farrar; and one sister, Annie Brandt.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley and her husband, Dr. Robert Raynor, of Afton; two sisters, Alene Davis of Afton, and Willie L. Pugh of Lyndhurst; two grandchildren, John William Raynor II and Robin G. Kidd; two great- grandsons, Jake and Jared Kidd.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2008, at Rodes United Methodist Church, 286 Avon Road, Afton, VA 22920, with the Reverend Richard McDowell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 West Main Street.

Those desiring are invited to send memorial contributions to, Rodes United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 286 Avon Road, Afton, VA 22920, or to Rockfish Valley Rescue Squad, 11000 Rockfish Valley Highway, Afton, VA 22920.
