This is Helen's first-cousin, Patsy McTigue Shiel, and I've been living in CT since 2001. I remember Billy and Helen since before they got married--what a good-looking couple, and lots of fun.
I am so sorry to learn of Billy's passing. My sincere sympathy to all his family, including Marion.

Not only was Bill related to me on my dad's side, by his wife Helen, my first cousin, but he was also related on my mom's side. Bill's mother, Mary Gallagher Jordan, was my mom's first cousin, and she was one of my favorite people. She like Bill always had a story and a laugh to share with us when we were kids and she had joy that was genuine. I remember my sister Maureen telling Bill that we were more related to his grandchildren than he.
Marion, Bill's children and grandchildren and those close to him will be remembered in prayer as we cherish his memory. Brother Gene keeps each one of you in his prayers.

Billy, married to my first cousin, Helen a wonderful pair. Helen's Dad, Brian Mullen, was my father, Patrick Mullen's brother. Billy was always one of my very favorite cousins-in-law. A ready laugh and sincere and gentle heart and such love for his family. How lucky we are to have known him. God Bless the beauty and greatness of his children which reflects Billy.

I'm very sorry to hear this news, Bill was a good guy who gave of himself for the Centereach Fire Dept as a Commissioner and as Chief. I also had the pleasure of working with him at the Post Office just before he retired. His route (which included the FD!) became mine a few years after that. The people he served on his route loved him and he was a tough act to follow. It was always good to see Bill at FD functions and around town, and whatever was going on with him he always had a smile and a good story. He was one of the people that gave me good advice when I was going up the ranks and became Chief of Stony Brook FD. Now he goes to see all of his friends who have gone before him, and they are probably having a good time in the "Gold" room upstairs right now. Scott and family, good luck getting through this tough time , but remember that your dad made an impact on more lives than you know. May he Rest in Peace.
