Linda Russo Obituary

RUSSO - Linda Ann, of Kure Beach, NC, formerly of Centerport, NY and Brooklyn, NY passed away peacefully on June 23, 2008 in the company of her family and friends. Linda waged a valiant battle with a long illness for the past eight months. She was born November 14, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Marie Virginia Mole and Joseph Anthony Gasparino Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Joseph Anthony Gasparino III. Linda was a woman of incomparable style, grace and beauty who was as comfortable with a beer and a hot dog as she was with champagne and caviar. Although she was a private person, Linda willingly shared herself with family and friends alike. Anyone who was fortunate to attend one of her family Christmas Eve dinners, New Years Eve parties, celebratory brunches or elegant dinner parties would attest to her wonderful culinary skills and loving heart. Everyone was welcome to Linda's home. She loved children and animals and they were uniquely drawn to her. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Peter; daughter Laura Marie Koenig and husband Scott; son Salvatore Peter Russo and fiancŽe Dawn Samantha Cahill; and the absolute joy of her life, grandson Scott Peter Koenig. In addition, Linda is survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 9:00pm Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Friday, June 27, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC, by the Rev. Joe Brennan. Entombment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. My sincere sympathy to the Russo family. I only met Linda once, many years ago, while working for Peter before they moved to NC, and remember her as a beautiful, elegant lady who Peter obviously adored. My prayers are with you all.

Although I did not know Linda, I heard many wonderful stories and testaments to what a great person she was through my sister, Becky and her husband Gene M. who live on Kure Beach. I sincerely wish you God's comfort as well as those of family and friends! With deepest sympathy. Terry Wells
