I am from Astoria, born and raised and George was part of the "corner crew" during the formative years in the 70's, right around the corner from where I lived.
We hung out together for years and he became a good friend, sharing a lot of adventures and good times. As it often happens, time goes along and people drift apart - before you know it there's just too much space in between. It's a shame, but it happens. I ran into him once or twice through the years, always with promises to get together etc. Unfortunately, it never seemed to work out.
I only learned of his passing recently and my wife (she was also part of the crew) and I are deeply saddened by the news. Please accept our deepest condolences and sympathy. May he rest in peace.

My very deepest sympathy and condolences..I am so saddened by this news..

I, too, like Richie, am from the Astoria crew, and knew George since the 70's.. he was a wonderful person with a good heart, and always with a smile. The 70's were wild times.. I remember even now, the lizard platform shoes he used to wear, and my folks telling him to get his hair cut :) ~ strange, the things we never forget. If able, I will scan the photo and submit it, if acceptable to you..

You will always be remembered, George.
May God hold you in the palm of His hand forever,

Hi, I just heard tonight about George's passing. I'm very sorry for your loss. George and I among others hung out during the late 60's early 70's in Astoria. I was known as Beans to all. We were all very close. I also owned a bar in Astoria called the Black Whale. I don't know if George ever mentioned the Astoria crew. We had many great times and I'm am so sad that he is no longer with us.

My Val, You are deep in my heart, and I truly am feeling this to the core. Your Geo left this world exactly one month after my Bobby left. I will always remember his laughter and funny jokes and comments. I just watched an old video the other night with Lori, and of all of us, and you two are dancing and making jokes. It's wonderful!!! I am coming to see you in Aug. with video in hand. It's from the 80's and we'll need a video player!!! Unlike Bob's many years of suffering, your experience was totally different in the sudden and shocking sense. I know you are strong Val. but if you reach that dark night, and believe me you will, you need to pick up that phone and call me girl!!! I am always here for you!! My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, and friends. Love Forever, Jeannie

Dear Val,

We were so lucky to have George in our family for the last 28 years and to have been able to know him for 30. I fogot to say thanks to him for taking care of Mom and checking up on her before he went to work in the morning. Thanks George for all the times you brought her food, fixed a broken tv or re-set the phone and showed her how to use all this modern technology. You were an a quick study when it came to technology as well. Hope you are enjoying all the re-runs of all the sporting events you enjoyed so much, watching the old movies, and you are rocking with all the greats in heaven. Say hello to Jimmy Janis, Jim, and Elvis for me. We love you and will always keep you in our hearts and minds. Thanks for the beautiful life, and love you gave to my sister. Love from Kathy, RIck and Richie....
