This evening at 8.35 PM my grandmother, Winifred W. Stunt joined her husband, Fred Stunt, our grandfather in death. We are saddened and weep, but rejoice in the fact that the two of them are now reunited. We are all richer for having their example.

I did not know Fred Stunt, but I have often heard of his reputation as a gentleman, and his impact on the Bellmore-Merrick Central HS District. As the President of the Bellmore-Merrick United Secondary Teachers, I want to add these words as evidence that his work here will not be forgotten. My sympathy to the entire family.

I am going to miss you terribly. You were a great great-grandfather to me and a man with a long life. You were a very generous, sweet, nice, caring, loving, and good man. Once again, I am going to miss you and all of the things we did together and all of the things you did for me. I love you, Kate.

My condolences to the Stunt family,
I was a junior, class of '56 when Fred took the principal's chair. He respected the students and had our respect in return.
It was a breath of fresh air for us when his team assumed leadership at the school. In particular for my bunch at the margins of school life.
Education needs many more with his talents & skill.

The deepest sympathies of my wife, Arleen Wolsiefer also class of '56 & myself. Two of the many thousands of students whose lives he touched.

Go gently is a phrase Pop would often use. It tells us so much about a man who was so caring, gentle and thoughtful. He was one of the most inspiring people I have ever had the privilege to know. The thing I will remember most is the way Pop shared a story and how he would make you feel you were there living it with him. He has touched so many lives and we are all blessed to have been part of his. Go gently Pop…I love you.

The thing I will remember most about Pop is his gentle spirit. He was a man who loved deeply and in return was loved, admired and respected. He was a man of honor. His calming voice, kind eyes, hearty laugh and generous heart will be missed greatly. Thank you Pop, I love you!

My grandfather was a true gentleman. He lived an incredibly full life...on his terms. The son of a housekeeper, he grew up in and about the Hudson River. He attended a one room school house and earned a scholarship to Albany State College. When he returned from WW II, he began teaching at Mepham HS and earned his Doctorate from Columbia University. Thirty five years later he retired as the Superintendent of Schools. He and his wife then set sail for Florida with their 36 foot trawler - SEMPRE. They enjoyed many months cruising Florida and the Bahamas. He and my grandmother spent more years together retired than they did working. I will miss his wisdom and stories, but I will miss him immensely. I love you Pop!

Pop was, perhaps, one of the gentlest men I've ever encountered. His gentility, sense of humor, and subtle charm were qualities so endearing and admirable. They will continue to be passed on to our children to keep his spirit alive. I am better for having known him and grateful for the lessons he shared. With much love, Pop.

My grandfather was an amazing man who led an incredibly full life always in service to others. He shared his love and friendship with all of the people he and my grandmother met in their travels the world over. We are all better people for having him grace our lives. I loved him dearly and miss him terribly, but he's finally free from pain and has provided well for his wife of 67 years. What more could you ask from a true gentleman and gentle man? I love you Pop.
