Murray Brenner Obituary

BRENNER - Murray, was born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 8, 1925; Passed away September 29, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. In Brooklyn, Murray spent his childhood going to Yeshiva, learning piano and playing baseball; At 20 years old, he married Helen Goldberg, had two children and founded Brenner Supply in East Meadow, NY with his two brothers, Sidney and Seymour. For nearly fifteen years, Murray was the choir leader at Israel Community Center in Levittown, NY and then later at the Wantagh Jewish Center in Wantagh, NY. At 39, he married again to Shirley Perrin. In 1976 they moved to Westlake Village, CA and they were married until her passing twenty years later. His adult life was not without its challenges but he met them all with dignity. He loved his life and most importantly his family. He is survived by three children, Mark Brenner, Sara Niemczyk (and Steven "Bud"), Sherri Moore (and Dale) and three beautiful grandchildren, Rachael Moore, Laura Moore, and Andrei Niemczyk. He was so fortunate to find a wonderful friend and partner, Geraldine Holoff, with whom he has shared many happy times in the last twenty years. Playing golf and piano, spending time with his family, and the Holoff family were his greatest joys. Dad, we will miss the beautiful music you made on your piano and keyboard. We all love you. Be at peace. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 3, 2008, 11am at Hillside Memorial Park, Culver City, CA 800-576-1994. Flowers or donations to: Mr. Hollands Opus Foundation http://www.mhopus.org/ in Murray's memory will be greatfully accepted.

Forever in our hearts

I fondly recall the early days at Brenner Supply and the years spent singing with the Wantagh Jewish Center Choir. Murray made an indelible mark on my life both through business and music. I still sing the beautiful High Holiday melodies you taught me. I feel fortunate to have known all three Brenner brothers well and to have spent time with them.

We both much admired Murray. Since our first meeting in the early 70s, I thought the world of him. Years later when my husband met Murray, he took a liking to him right away. He was a great guy, with a great outlook on life. He will be missed.
