Bob was a proud member of our Civil War Reenactment unit, Co. B, 57th Virginia Infantry, where he held the rank of Corporal. Our unit philosophy is to portray a veteran and line company of the Army of Northern Virginia in mid-1862. Several years ago, Bob watched our unit drilling at Longwood during the Town Fair. He must have liked our style, because he enlisted with us that same day. He soon became a a valued and respected member. Bobby last took the field with us at Gettysburg in 2008. We all knew how ill he was, but he insisted on being there, even on a limited basis.
Bobby was loved and respected by all. A true man in every way, blessed with great physical strength but with a kindness rarely encountered in this life, he was a friend to be valued. Unfortunately, since we did not learn of his passing until a few weeks ago, we were unable to pay our respects. However, all of us wish to tell his family and friends how much we miss him. We hope to soon place his picture in uniform on our memorial page on our new unit website:

Where do I begin? First, our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Taylor and all his brothers and sisters and Christine. I found out a month after Bobby passed. Shame on me for not calling as often as I should have. Bobby “Fred” and I go back a long time. Part of the original “Rat Pack”. Years before the Corp. and proudly; years after. He was my son Joey’s God Father and we could not have selected a finer person for the honor.
Eddie Spilik, my wife and I were recalling the time when we all went fishing in late October and got stranded in some pretty cold and miserable weather. Bobby took the helm while Eddie and I took shelter under the bow of the boat. Ice cycles formed and clung to his beard, and the water froze on his face, but he took us home. My wife came back to find Bobby in her bathrobe and all of our clothes in the oven, drying off. (It’s true, we have the picture :)
True to the core... honorable to the end, and a better friend I could never ask for. You will be thought of always in the best of ways and spoken about in no other way but postive.
I will be gathering pictures and stories and in short order, I will build a web page to honor my friend.
Bobby, you took us home, now the Lord has taken you home. Until we meet again Semper Fi!
Love Jim, Colleen and All of the Pellegrini family.

My condolances for your family. I first remember Bobby from the fishing
trips when I was a child. He was a genuine and sincere man, the rare
thing for our age. He will be missed and I will keep him in my prayers.

Bobby was my brother. Growing up in a large family had its ups and downs, and especially as we all get older we tend to get busy with all the things in our lives, and don't get to spend as much time together. When Bobby got sick he moved home with my mom, and me and my kids and I got to spend alot more time with him. just driving him to Philadelphia for his treatments, I got to talk to him more one on one and found out how much things meant to him. We always talked alot about when we were younger and all the great times we all had as kids. But until Bobby died and I saw and met so many people who's lives he touched, I never realized the extent of what a great guy he was and what a great life he had lived. I truly am blessed to have him for my brother as is my family, extended family, and his many, many, good friends. I thank all of you for sharing your great stories and memories with us and for joining us in celebrating his life. And special thanks to Christine who stayed with us throughout Bobby's final days, and gave Bobby a very special gift. We are blessed to have her enter our lives. Bobby, my big baby brother, I LOVE YOU XOXOXOXO

Bobby ~ I will never forget our last conversation on the steps of your moms house in Farmingdale. We shared the proud moment of the US Marine Corps as my son serves our country. The Taylor family has always been in my life since high school. From a proud Marine family and a Farmingdale High School graduate (feels like so long ago), my heartfelt love and support to all the Taylors and Bobby, I am so proud of you. You stood for what you believed in at such a young age. I wish I got to know you better. Rest in Peace my friend and Semper Fidelius from one proud Marine family to another. You are with your Marine brothers now. Stand tall.

Dear Fred (Bobby),
You would shoot me for saying this, but my overriding thought of you is how sweet of a man you were. You did your best to appear rough and gruff at times, but you never fooled me. You are a dear person and you touched many lives. We may have been an odd pair with little in common on paper, but we never ran out of converstion (nor tired of needling each other). You always had the most awful jokes and I will miss hearing your laugh as you told them. You were always there for me and your friends and had such a generous spirit. I am so grateful to have been your friend and wish I could be telling you this in person today. Your sense of honor and integrity were genuine to the core. I won't be able to see workboots, a plaid flannel shirt or a yellow pickup truck without thinking of you. Decaff coffee will still always remind me of your time working for the village.
My deepest sympathy to the Taylor family. You can be proud of what a fine man Bobby/Fred was. He will be missed.
