Joseph Sefcik Obituary

Joseph R. Sefcik 1925 - 2008 WILLIAMSTOWN Joseph R. Sefcik, 82, died peacefully at RMC Long Term Hospital, Anniston, Ala., Oct. 8, surrounded by several of his family members. Mr. Sefcik had been in declining health for the last few years. Born in Holyoke, Oct. 29, 1925, He resided in Williamstown for 47 years and was employed for 38 years at the Old Stone Mill in Adams, and prior to that at the Brightwater Paper Company also in Adams. Mr. Sefcik was a veteran of World War II having served in Europe. Together with his wife Josephine they relocated from Williamstown to Weaver, Ala., in 2001. Joe pursued his passion for music his entire life. He played drums throughout his Army enlistment and until leaving the area with numerous local bands and combos including the Pete DeMayo Orchestra, the Ellen Garvey Trio, and Walt Lehman Trio. Mr. Sefcik leaves his wife of 61 years, the former Josephine Kordana; two sons, Paul, and his wife, Candy, of Anniston, Ala.; David, and his wife, Nancy of Lenox; three granddaughters, Emily Wessells of Adams; Hilary Sefcik of Shrewsbury, and Rebecca Michaels, of Weaver, Ala., and three great-granddaughters. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service was held at the Alexandria United Methodist Church Oct. 10, 2008, with the Rev Paula Calhoun officiating. The family requests donations be made to the Alexandria UMC Building Fund, 2065 Alexandria-Wellington Road, Alexandria, AL 36250.
