Hrista Stamenkovic Obituary

HRISTA STAMENKOVIC 7/17/1917 - 3/16/2006 A Loving Father, Husband, Grandfather & Friend Retired City of Riverside Engineer Research Scientist, Author and Amazing Person Hrista Stamenkovic, known to neighbors and acquaintances on Mt. Rubidoux as "uncle Chris," believed that with commitment and dedication almost anything is possible. He loved knowledge, and passionately encouraged everyone who crossed his path to pursue education and learning. Even after he retired, he continued to make dozens of original scientific contributions in the area of concrete technology and building safety. As a leading authority on concrete technology, his legacy includes many contributions including creating buildings that can safely withstand earthquakes and, thus, save millions of lives. The knowledge, research, passion, enthusiasm and energy he invested in his work, led him to identify a new law of physics critical to building safety. ("Innovative Shear Design" 2002) Services: 3/25/06, 10AM at Acheson & Graham. Followed by a brief Graveside Service, 11:30AM at Evergreen Cemetery, (Pine/13th). His family has established a scholarship fund at UCR in his honor to be used for engineering students. I was very sorry to find out about Mr. Stamendovic passing today when I noticed he wasn't on my Meals On Wheels route. He was such a sweet man. I looked forward to seeing him, his positive and loving attitude. I will miss him. My deepest sympathy goes out to

Mrs. Stamenkovic and his family.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Hrista Stamenkovic. He and his wife were on my former Meals on Wheels route, and it was always such a pleasure to spend time with them. Mr. Stamenkovic always had the warmest hug for me and a few words of wisdom. Their house was the highlight of my route--I always looked forward to stepping up to their front door. My deepest condolences go to Mrs. Stamenkovic and the rest of the family. Hrista will be missed.
