Robert Pope Obituary

Robert Lester Pope Sr. finally reached the top of his ladder as he departed this world on Feb. 4, 2009, to join his maker, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Lester was born Oct. 11, 1921. He was a World World II veteran, who later became the owner of Pope's Electrical. He was a hard worker who provided for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Omry Lee Pope and Lucinda Mae Loomis (Daisy); his beloved wife, Margaret Mae Pope; and son, Robert Lester Pope Jr.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy R. Pope of Petersburg, Va.; his daughter, Brenda and husband, Roy Anderson, of Wilmington, N.C.; his grandson, Shane H. Pope and wife, Betty, of Colonial Heights, Va., who he raised as his own. There are also eight other grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren surviving.

Family will receive friends at Jennings and McMillian Funeral Home, located in Crewe, Va., at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009. There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, Va.

He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts!

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. — 2 Timothy 4:7
