Dionisio "Dennis" Acampora

Dionisio "Dennis" Acampora of Clintondale, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 61.

A 43-year resident of the area, he came here from Naples, Italy. On July 7, 1947 he was born in Agerola, Italy, to the late Ferdinand and Maria Cristina Vanacore Acampora. He was the owner manager of area restaurants, most recently Paese Mio Restaurant, Highland, NY.

He is survived by three sons, Ferdinand Acamopra and his companion, Anna Ramero of Highland, NY, Joseph Acampora and his wife, Syndi of Highland, NY, and Michael Acampora who resides with his mother, Jill Vradenburgh in Poughkeepsie, NY; two brothers, Giuseppe Acampora and his wife, Concetta of Aviano, Italy, Alfonso Acampora and his wife, Anna Maria of Averill Park, NY; two sisters, Carmela Acampora of Rome, Italy, and Gabriella Fusato and her husband, Enzo of Venice, Italy; two granddaughters, Ava Acampora and Brianna Acampora; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is the mother of his sons, Ferdinand and Joseph, Ida Acampora.

On Sunday, July 20, family and friends will come to Engel Funeral Home, Inc., 5319 Route 9W, Newburgh (Middlehope), NY for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Monday, July 21, at 9 a.m. We will then proceed to St. Charles Borromeo Church, Routes 44/55, Gardiner, NY to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Eugene A. Kosnik, celebrant. Interment in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Gardiner, NY, will immediately follow the Mass of Christian Burial.

In lieu of flowers, family members would appreciate donations being made in Dennis's memory to: his minor son, Michael Acampora, #8 Beechwood Terrace, Poughkeepsie, NY 12061.
