Helen Speranza Obituary

Chester, NY

Helen I. Speranza of Chester, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Savannah Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Savannah, GA. She was 84.

Daughter of the late Carmelo and Calogera Pace Restivo, she was born in New York City on October 20, 1924. She was the widow of George J. Speranza.

Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Monroe, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Margaret Mary, member of Young at Heart, and a member of the American Legion Orange Blossom Post 1167 Ladies' Auxiliary in Chester, NY.

She is survived by her son, James Speranza of Bluffton, SC; daughters: Elaine Berk of Savannah, GA, Mary Ann Wilson of Highland Falls, and Jeanne Speranza of Old Bridge, NJ, and brother, Angelo Restivo of Dumont, NJ.

Visitation will be held at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY on Saturday, October 25, and Sunday, October 26, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe on Monday, October 27, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the Orange County Veterans' Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY.

Dear Jeanne, My most heartfelt sympathys to you and your family, I have fond memories of your Mom when we were in the Queens.
