I worked with Jay for about 5 years at OSPD several years ago. He gave me the nicest card when I left that read "I'm not saying goodbye because I expect to see you again." Jay made me promise to call him when I got settled at my new job and we would go to lunch. I never saw Jay again. I emailed him over the years just to touch base, see how he was, and to say hello, but I'll always regret not taking the time to stop by, say hello in person, or making that lunch date. Lesson learned - not to wait or put things off because tomorrow may never come. Jay was one of very few people in my life who truly meant something to me, and who touched my life in a very positive way. He was my mentor and my friend, a very awesome guy to have known and one of the saddest days of my life in losing him. My sincere condolences to his family, I wish that I had gotten to know all of you as well, you are an extraordinary family. I can only imagine the loss you feel, and I'm truly very sorry.

I am saddened to hear of Jay's passing and my heart goes out to his family. Jay was a generous caring professional who helped me more than once. I got to "know" him through CPDA and CADC, professional organizations of which we were both members. His wit, his intelligence, and his compassion will be missed.

Dear Lynn, Carye, Joey, David and Brie:
It is with heartfelt sorrow for your family as we say goodbye to your cherished husband and father. Jay was an incredible man, who was the embodiment of the strength of the human spirit. In the face of his illness, he did so much for others and always with humor, kindness, and gentleness. He's always been an inspiration to all those around him and you all must be so proud of him. I will treasure my days on the St. John School board because I served with Jay and other really amazing people. Jay amazed all of us with his intelligence and his logic. We will all miss him. His passing is a great loss for our community. Our family will keep you and your family in our prayers.

Jay truly was a remarkable man. He has worked for years in trying to clear my brother and I feel that all his hard work will make it easier for someone else to step in and continue the fight. My prayers are with you.
