McBride, Edwin S. "Mac" 80, Naples, FL and St. Croix Falls, WI. Ed McBride died peacefully at his Naples home on Saturday morning with loving family at his side. Mac had peritoneal cancer diagnosed in August 2005 and managed to live a full, active and rich life right until the very end. He was born Edwin Simonton McBride on March 24, 1926, to Newton and Jessie McBride of Covington, TN. He began his long career with Bemis Co. right out of college, married the love of his life Jenny, and never changed either job or wife. Mac and Jenny lived in Edina for more than 25 years, "retiring" finally to an active life in Naples, FL and returning for summers in St. Croix Falls, WI to their home on Deer Lake. They celebrated 60 incredible years of marriage on December 22, 2006, with family and friends, the last celebration Dad was to enjoy. Their remarkable love for each other and the richly blessed lives they led touched many people, ensuring lasting memories. Mac was preceded in death by his sister, Julia Maxey. He is survived by brothers Bill (Dot) of Harlingen, TX; Bob (Jackie) of Lenoir City TN; and sister Betty of Mason, TN. His children are sons David (w. Robin, Carla & Kelly) of Winona; Tom (w. JoElin, Corey & Mason) of Lino Lakes; Andrew (Jake) of Eagan; and daughter Debra (Molly, Kevin, Riley Cominetti & Maddie Cominetti) of Eden Prairie. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, January 24 at Washburn- McReavy Funeral Home, 5000 50th Street in Edina. A memorial service will be held at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, Grove St., Edina, Thursday, January 25, 1:00 pm. Cremation and private interment at Good Samaritan's Peace Garden later. Instead of flowers, please honor our Dad's memory with a donation to the Autism Society of Minnesota (www.ausm.org); to Naples Hospice Care (www.hospiceofnaples.org); or your own favorite charity.

Mac McBride was a true gentleman. His love of family and friends was complete and obvious. He was a very kind and thoughtful man who touched countless lives with his generousity. Mac set an example to us all in the living of a full and active life. I learned many lessons from him and am proud to be among those he considerd a friend. I choose not to mourn his passing but instead to celebrate the great life that touched so many hearts. I am a better man for knowing him. Thank you Mac!
