I am so glad that I got to know you even though it was for only a short time. I am glad you no longer have to struggle. I just wish it didn't have to be this way. You have touched so many people. I am proud to have known you Molly. Rest in Peace.

I think about Molly all the time. My husband, Bob, and I carry her picture with us in our Big Books. I have one in my purse also. I'd love to get back in touch with her mom and dad as I really felt such a closeness with you two. Molly was very special and smiles at us from above, I'm certain! Continued love to you too Ben. ~peace to everyone.. Sherril Niemann 630-674-7206

I'm very late to find this news out. I just found out today. Molly was a joy in life. I lived in Texas for 8 years and lost touch. I then found her on the web and saw she lived in Downers Grove. I live back in Illinois now. I kept thinking I would run into her. Very sad news.

Dear Hartman family,

I had the privilege of working with Molly in both The Department of Theatre and The James Millikin Scholars Program at Millikin University. I also accompanied her to the National Collegiate Honors Conference in Orlando, FL in the spring of 2000. Though we came from different political and religious backgrounds, my time spent with her was a delight. I will always admire her sincere concern for social justice. Molly had an ability to think through the ramifications of even the simplest of consumer choices and policy decisions. Her ability to empathize outside of herself was a gift from God. May The Lord comfort you in our loss and prove "that in all things He works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:23).

Sincerely,

Tina Willson (Medlin)

It has been a few months, but know that Molly is still in our thoughts. I will never forget her clear voice singing "Under the Bridge" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers when auditioning for a musical in high school. I thought she was a little crazy when she told me that's what she was going to sing...but it was beautiful. I know no words can help. But know that she is remembered and made a difference in the lives of others. May that knowledge give you peace.

I choke up even days after hearing the news. I am stunned and saddened, hoping this is a cruel joke the world is playing on us. Molly and I had communicated through email just two weeks ago, and she was telling me about her new job and travels. We were making plans to meet up together soon. I first met Molly when she worked at Mario Tricoci. We lost touch after she left , but reconnected later on about 2 years ago. She was a beautiful person both inside and out. Always caring and generous. Molly, your talent was exceptional. I'll never get to see France with you, raid your closet full of costumes, or finish the things we talked about, but you will always be in my heart and prayers. Love you always! I will never forget you!

Molly drove me to seek out my artistic side. I found myself competing with her. Whether it be in choir... through out vocal studio... or our senior talent show. I thank Molly for helping me push myself and come out of my shell. And to this day I still feel that she had way more talent than me. Bless you Molly.

Dear Harry, Bobbi and Ben,

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this. I am not really sure what to say to comfort you. Your pain must be indescribable. My sympathy goes to each of you.

I can remember moving into our new home in Sugar Grove. This was a difficult move for my kids. There stood "a girl" for Jennifer. Same age and everything!!!! It was Molly. They had many memories of being good friends. I felt like I was given "another daughter".

Thank you Harry, Bobbi and Ben for sharing Molly with us also.

May God be with you,

Becky Schaffer

I was so deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Molly’s death, and though I can’t offer much solace to Bobbi, Harry, and Ben, I would like to share my distant, but cherished, memories of Molly. As teenagers, we often joked about my unicorn earings. It was those earings that Molly first noticed about me when I sat down next to her in first grade, and we quickly became dear childhood friends. Every year without fail, I think of Molly on Dec. 16, as her birthday is exactly one week before mine. We shared many special birthday celebrations together as young girls. Whether we were sketching fashion drawing as aspiring designers or creating dance routines for our jazz class, I always admired Molly’s artistic sense and her unique perspective. She was a star, brilliant and motivated, and she was an influential and important part of my formative years. Though our lives eventually took us down different roads, I know that the creative and rich times we spent together as young girls have shaped who I am today. I know she was a special part of many lives long after mine, and all I can offer is my young memories, but they are truly special to me, as was Molly.

I have many memories of a teenage Molly. We bonded over Orson Scott Card, attended Twisted Christmas I, sat through French class together, and argued over whether or not our group performance of “It’s in His Kiss” was ready to be showcased at the big end of the year “Good Times” choir concert. Each memory I have of Molly is infused with what I can only describe as one of the most creative, original, and determined spirits I have met. I’m sorry to say that in adulthood we lost touch; I wish I had had the opportunity to form more memories of this lovely individual. I’m sure that the lack thereof is my loss. My thoughts will always be with Molly and her family wishing all of you peace.

Dear Harry and Bobbi,

As high school classmates, we shared a common journey at a common time before being launched into the paths of our different choices. Those memories are strong.

I did not know Molly, but I can feel from everyone's descriptions that she was truly exceptional.

I grieve for friends Harry and Bobbi who would have to experience this, and I grieve in unison with all parents who innately understand this terrible sorrow.

I am thinking of you both.

Molly,
I will never forget our time in France when you were dressed as Marie Antoinette. With that huge costume that almost had its own seat on the plane! It was beautiful. Sooo many of the visitors to Versailles that day stopped and posed with you for photos all the while wondering if you worked there and did it all of the time.
I hope to see you again someday. You will be missed my friend.
