Doris Swanson Obituary

Franklin, N.H. Doris M. Swanson, loving mother and grandmother, 86, of Franklin, formerly of North Easton, Mass., died at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, May 25, 2008. She was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, April 12, 1922, a daughter of Edgar and Aimee (Sherren) Crossman. Mrs. Swanson was raised in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School. She later attended the Kingman School in Brockton, where she received her nurses training. She was a licensed practical nurse and worked over 20 years at Brockton Hospital, prior to retiring. Mrs. Swanson resided in Easton, Mass., and North Easton for 62 years before moving to Franklin two years ago. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in North Easton and was the widow of Arnold M. Swanson, who died last April. Family members include her five children, Kathleen E. Hanson of Mansfield, Mass., David A. Swanson and his wife Sharon of Taunton, Mass., Marilyn St. James and her husband James Iseman of Franklin, Donald A. Swanson and his wife Sandy of Millis, Mass., and Laurie S. Elliott of Laconia; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Swanson of Taunton; a sister, Eleanor Straffin of Duxbury, Mass.; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Swanson, and a sister, Marilyn Saley. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m. at New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Rte. 3, Boscawen. Donations in memory of Mrs. Swanson may be made to the American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101 (Unit ), Bedford, NH 03110.
