Frederick V. McCoy Jr.

Bridgewater Frederick V. McCoy Jr., of Bridgewater, died June 20, 2008, at the Life Care Center in West Bridgewater. He was 77. Born and raised in Boston, a son of the late Frederick V. Sr. and Margaret (Lewis) McCoy, he was a 1950 graduate of Brighton High School. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea from 1952 until 1954, earning the rank of corporal. He worked as a supervisor for New England Telephone Company for 38 years, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed remodeling his home and fishing. He was the husband of Doris (Ihlefeld); father of Kevin of North Smithfield, R.I., Cynthia of Middleboro, Christina and Karl, both of Bridgewater, and Keith of East Taunton; brother of William of Bridgewater. Also survived by seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater, Tuesday at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater, at 9 a.m. Burial will be private.
