Samuel Celia Obituary

BROCKTON Samuel A. Celia, 91, a lifelong Brockton resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, in Brockton, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Marian (Voci) Celia. Born Aug. 28, 1917, in Brockton, he was a son of the late Joseph Celia and Annina (Petti) Celia. Mr. Celia was a civilian worker at Pearl Harbor during World War II. He worked as a leather shipper for the Bardley Company, in Brockton, for over 30 years. He then worked for over 10 years at Brockton High School as a custodian and security guard, where he retired from. He was a singer in St. Margarets Church choir and sang at many local functions. He attended Boston Conservatory of Music. He is survived by his brothers, Joseph Celia and his wife Mary Jane of Hanover and Raymond Celia and his wife Elaine of Florida; his nieces and nephews, Joseph Celia, Laureen Brown, Amy Lopes, Raeann Wisniewski and Samuel Celia. He was the brother of the late Marian Celia. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Saturday, at 8 a.m. thence to St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Church, 71 East Main St., Brockton, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
