Esther Pike Obituary

NEW HAMPSHIRE Esther E. Pike, 94, of Derry, NH, formerly of Milton, died September 29, 2008, following a period of declining health, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, NH. She had resided in Derry for the past 30 years. Born in Quincy on September 18, 1914, she was 1 of 7 children born to the late Otto and Hilja (Oikari) Rautio, and was raised with a strong Finnish influence. She worked for more than 20 years as an Inspector at Raytheon, and it is there that she met her future husband, William Edward Pike, whom she married on Jan. 16, 1971. Following retirement, the two cherished their time together, and especially enjoyed the time they took traveling the country. At the time of his death in 2006, they had been married for 35 years. She is survived by her sister Barbara Riley of Braintree, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William Rautio, Miriam Campbell, Eileen Norris, Anne Shields and Doris DeBeaumont. Graveside services were held at Blue Hills Cemetery today, where she was laid to rest with her beloved husband. Arrangements were under the care of Hamel, Wickens & Troupe www.hamelfuneralcare.com
