Lorraine Galvin Obituary

Lorraine Galvin SO. YARMOUTH Lorraine Eleanor (Tirrell) Galvin died Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Mrs. Galvin was the devoted wife of the late James Joseph Galvin III, lieutenant, Boston Fire Department. Mrs. Galvin was born and raised in Quincy, the daughter of the late Ethel H. (Van Raaltee) and Jacques E. Tirrell. Lorraine graduated from North Quincy High School. She was a long time employee of Lindenmeyer Paper Company before moving to Cape Cod in 1980. She and her late husband owned and operated guest cottages in Dennisport. Lorraine worked part time on weekends and most holidays at Eagle Pond Nursing Home, so that regular staff members could be together during important family times. Lorraine was a Former member of Abington Old Town VFW Post 5737. Mrs. Galvin is survived by her two nephews; Rodger L. Day of Marshfield, MA and Stephen C. Day (Kathy) of Kemah, TX, 6 great nieces and nephews and many great grand nieces and nephews and special life long friend and cousin Rev. Dick Malmquist (Chris) of Kingston, MA. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5 from 1 to 2 PM at Morris & OConnor Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
