John is already missed by all of his friends. He was a wonderful advocate for his ESL students and families. He wanted the best for them and he made sure the students were getting everything they needed to be successful in school. John loved talking to people and could talk to the fencepost if he had to. He could have been called the "Encourager" because he encouraged everyone to be a better person and contribute to society. He always loved to joke around and make people laugh. Even down to his last days here on earth he made me laugh.

I will miss you little brother. I'm so glad you had Hazel and your group to help you, and be your family in your new home of Kentucky. You did well. You had to teach in 3 colleges and 3 prisons to make a week's pay, without benefits, in Boston. In Ky. you got good pay, benefits, and respect. In Ky you were able to do more for them, like Kara said, than just teach. I bought a "John tree" a potted tree that I can talk to since I can't talk to you. Who can I call now when I need help with my grammar? The tree won't answer me. The last thing I said to you was to put in a good word with God for me, did you? Have you seen Ma and your Dad yet up there? You must look up Grampa Caldwell, you never met him but you'd really like him. Look for my cats, especially Busta and Matt who left us last year. I'm sure HoneyBee will find you, you know how crazy she was about you. Rest in peace.
