Dear Canavan Family,

May I share a prayer for God's consolation for you grieving Alex's passing unto the Lord whom he loved, whom he desired all of New England to know. I thank God for the opportunity which Alex gave to me to thrive at WEZE, and for the example of joyful, purposeful discipleship which he exemplified every day. We shall miss him, but rejoice that he now enjoys his eternal reward, which we all hope one day to attain! In His mercy,

To the family of Alex Canavan: I met Alex at a men's retreat back in 2003. I recognized his voice from the radio station. Later we met again at the Boston Noon Hour. Alex was always encouraging to me, and was like a father to me as well. Mostly he loved the Lord and had tremendous faith. God Bless and keep you all. Robert Toomey, Boston, Ma.

Life is but a stopping place
A pause in what’s to be
A resting place along the road
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant
to learn some things,
But never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place
Far greater than we know.
For some, the journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.

For my special friend Maureen (and family),
you are in my thoughts and prayers.

It's hard to believe we can't just pick up the phone and call you. We've done it so many times over the last fifty years or so. We knew the day would come when one of us would return to the Lord, first, but it's hard to say goodbye. Even for a little while.
Al has been my best friend since college days. He was always there to cheer one up if one was having a "bad " day. I remember all the good times we had at 20 Bellevue. the "arguements " wih the older guys, Jay and his friends, Big red puting up with all of us, Grandma and Mrs. Alexander always ready with a great Sunday dinner. Oh yes, the cape house . We had so many good times down there.
No matter how much time passed between our visits in the early years, we always seemed to pick up right where we left off.
I have Al to thank for my beautiful wife and family. He was the one who introduced us. The Godfather to our first born child, Kathleen. Through the years we visited as often as was possible and sometimes years went by between visits. But in the last several years we have had a lot of good times together. Sandie and I visiting Pembroke and the cape and Al and Maureen visiting with us in St. Augustine. His 70th birthday was celebrated at our home along with all of his children and grandchildren. It was a good time.
I'll never forget to pray for the soul of my best friend, Al. There will come a time when we will all meet wih the Lord.
Goodbye friend, till we meet again...
Mike Charles

He was a great friend, husband and father.

Yes, my life changed greatly the night of Al's first college party at 20 Bellevue. It was then that Mike charles came into my life. Al's college roommate. The rest as they say is history. Al has been Mike's best friend for many, many years. He will miss him greatly. How they would "argue" over religion. But, never over politics!! I'll miss you too, Al. I send my love and prayers,
Sandra

May God's perpetual light shine upon him. Alex was truly a man after God's own heart. He touched our lives deeply and personally. We will miss his dynamic teachings on the Lord and His goodness. Be at peace, friend. Our deepest sympathy to Maureen and his beloved children and grandchildren.
