Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate.

For FTM2 Tom Belbeck, although we never served together, I was fortunate to have been a part of the wonderful legacy you passed along as a crewmember of the finest U.S. Navy ship to ever sail the seven seas, the USS Richmond K.Turner (CG-20). Thank for you proud and dedicated service to our country. May you have Fair Winds and Following Seas as you navigate the heavens.

To the Belbeck Family-
I know Tom will hold a special place in your memory. He will also be in ours. I first met Tom about ten years after my leaving the Navy. He just happened to get a teaching job where I was teaching and we were both surprised to learn that he and I had both served on the same ship and that he knew most of my old shipmates even though he had served about six months after I left. I taught in the same program with him for about three years here in Minnesota. Not only was he one great and natural teacher, he was fabulously gifted in communicating with his students. Most of all, I will miss his great sense of humor and his eternal optimism. When he got his lay off notice due to a lack of students, we would caution him about getting a “short timers attitude” and he would make us laugh by saying “what are they going to do to me, hire me?” He is loved by many, and that is the true value of life. He made this world a better place so he truly deserves to be in a better place now.

To the Belbeck family
I met Tom when I was a student at Dakota County Technical College. I learned almost everything I know about electronics from him. My son Andy Glass went out with one of your girls. Andy is now an officer in the Air Force. I was also in the military. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. I will visit him at the Fort Snelling Cemetery.

Janice,
Angela and I were very saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I served with him on the R.K. Turner back in the '60s and had lost contact until just before our last reunion. It was so wonderful to renew our friendship. Tom will be missed very much. We will keep you in our prayers.

To the Belbeck Family-
I was so saddened when Mom called and left a message on Sunday to hear that Tom had passed away. Her message brought back a flood of memories. Though I’d only seen Tom once in the past 42 years, those memories of all of us playing, and sometimes fighting, still fill me with strong and wonderful thoughts and reflections of a childhood growing up on Oakland Avenue.
On behalf of the Penrod family, please accept our most sincere sympathies, condolences and prayers.

Janice, I was so sorry to hear about Tom's passing. He was way too young to go but at least you know he is in a better place. I have warm memories of Tom and especially remember you talking about his love of fishing and the cabin up north. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you; I'll give you a call soon.
