Virginia Kohl Obituary

Published by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels from Feb. 4 to Feb. 5, 2008.
Kohl, Virginia Louise (Hultgren) passed away Sunday morning in her home. Her joyful outlook on life touched many people and her open minded thinking made her a civil rights leader for all, long before it was popular. Virginia was a lifelong PEO member. She was a long time member of Macalester Plymouth United Church in St. Paul, for the last 15 years she attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Mpls. Her lifelong goal was to be a wife and a mother, she felt very successful, for many years she worked at Dayton's in Downtown St. Paul. One of her many achievements was to be a church soloist and she sang in the church choir forever. Virginia graduated from St. Paul Central High School in 1932. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, her mother and father, Ben and Emily; her sister, Emily and her sister, Elizabeth. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Carleen and Bob and Pat; her grandchildren, Julie, Robert, Michael, Steven and Virginia, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ben, Hannah, John, Nick, Wesley Flanigan, and Preston. Her last request was to make sure we told everyone how much she loved them. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to MTV Intercity Tutoring Program, or Westminster Presbyterian Church. Graveside service 10 AM Feb 7 at Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Ave (meet inside gate). Memorial service at 12 Noon Feb. 7 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave., Mpls. Reception to follow. Washburn-McReavy Davies Chapel 612-377-2203 2301 Dupont Ave. S.

The White Wing Dove I Will Always Love You

Michael Kohl

February 9, 2008

To My White Wing Dove, this is your grandson Michael, we will all miss you and carry on your mission of love and peace to all, as you have done. I truly prayed that you were in no pain and that you would be able to go in your sleep and god has answered those prayer, so it has put me at ease. You were special to all of us, especially me, letting me know that I was special in gods eyes. I will take what you have taught me into this world, and I will always know that you are watching over all of us. I love you, and always will, so to my white wing dove, who keeps singing to us, now she sings from up above. I love you grandma.

To The Kohl Families, Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews,

Please accept our great sorrow on the loss of a very special mother, grandmother and aunt. We know how much she contributed to so many lives, and how much she loved everyone.

Our families were friends for many years in Fargo, SSP and St. Paul, exchanging Holiday cards most of those years. I always enjoyed hearing from her when she was in
FL. It was because of Ginny and Dick's advice that we selected the St. Paul neighborhood and schools.

We loved Ginny and her family. She was so proud of all of you. We'll always remember the coincidence of her niece meeting Lenny and of Patti helping him find an apt. through her friend.
Life is full of coincidences. Ginny and Dick were happy coincidences in our lives.

We'll always remember Ginny and her families. She was the best hostess and made the best red chocolate cake.

Sincerely,

Pat (Mrs. Ray) Gaustad

I echo the sentiments of Michael Uditsky, another former Stanford Ave. friend. We were lucky to have great neighbors like Virginia and Dick Kohl. I remember many summer mornings walking with Bob on his paper route, then coming back to the Kohl house for some great pancakes by Virginia. My thoughts are with the Kohl family.

Bob, Patti and Family,

Pam and I are sorry to hear about your loss of you Mother, friend, and Grandma. I never had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Kohl but I have been told by many that she was a wonderful person and cared for many in her lifetime. In time like this it is nice to know that you were blessed to have Virgina in your life and my hope is that you and your family have many long lasting memories of her and share these memories with each other as often as you can and forever. I have said a prayer and thanked Virgina for taking care of my sister and her family for many years, I know that my sister is who she is today due to the influence Mrs. Kohl had on Patty through out her entire life. God bless all of you and many positive memories going forward of Grandma and Mom.
