Watson, Betty E. of Golden Valley, MN. Betty was born October 13, 1934 and passed away on March 13, 2008. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert; daughters, Rondi Watson, Maren (David) LaLiberty, Dina (Leon) Rogalla, and Shevaun Watson (Stephen White); grandchildren, Dylan Watson and Rowan White; and sister, Norma Durrett. Betty grew up in Chicago, the oldest daughter of Norwegian immigrants Hannah and John Onstad. She first attended college at the University of Illinois at Navy Pier and graduated from Illinois-Champaign Urbana in 1956 with studies in fashion design and communication. Betty and Bob moved to Minneapolis, and she began a career in Public Relations at Dayton's. After raising her beautiful daughters and pursuing graduate work at the U of M, she worked as a PR executive at Apache Corporation for 15 years. She served as an officer of the state chapter of the Public Relation Society of America and participated in a business exchange program to China in 1987. She was active with her husband in supporting the establishment of Voyageurs National Park, where she spent many vacations houseboating, camping and fishing. In her retirement, Betty worked at a social service agency coordinating senior transportation, and she traveled to Norway with friends. Hello Watson Family. Along with my 2 brothers and 1 sister I grew up in Crystal 3 houses away from you on Brunswick Avenue. Your mother Betty was always extremely good to us and treated us like gold. I remember both of your parents being very gracious people. Your backyard was a very popular place with all of the neighborhood kids, especially with the pool and A-frame playhouse. That wouldn't have been possible without your mom and dad being extremely tolerant and fond of all kids. One of my best childhood memories is of playing in your backyard. I also remember that Betty made very good chocolate chip cookies that she shared with us.

Dear Watson Family ~
We first met Betty and Bob's daughter, Maren, while living in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and quickly realized the closeness of Maren's sisters and parents. We were once fortunate to spend a delightful evening entertaining Betty and Bob in our home, thoroughly enthralled with tales of their houseboating adventures.
While we rejoice with Maren and Dave in anticipation of the arrival of their children in April, we grieve with them not only for the loss of dear Betty, but also the passing of Dave's mom in December.
Many prayers are being offered up for comfort and solace to be bestowed upon Bob, his daughters and grandchildren during this time.

To the Watson Family,

I am someone from way back in your past. But, I remember your Mom very well from my childhood. She was always bigger than life to me. It's amazing how the memories come flooding back. I am so sorry for your loss and I pray for your family to find strength in each other and your friends.

Hi Rondi,
I don't know if you remember me, your old roommate, Robin Corton, now Bellamy. Katy Campbell told me about your huge loss. I am so sorry. I remember when you kindly invited me over to your home for Thanksgiving one year. Your mother and family were delightful. I am so sorry for you and your family. --Robin
