Strange this popped up as I was thinking of Lois this morning on my way to work. I remember your wonderful personality, kindness as a colleague and enthusiasm for life. I think of you every November 26th as you share my father's birthday and paradise with him. I hope the entire family feels your presence and love until we all meet again.

Dear family of Lois Johnson,
Lois was my Physical Education teacher at Northview Jr. Hi over 39 years ago. She made the class very fun and helped the girls through the Jr. High years. She always had a smile on her face and a word of encouragement.
Mrs. Johnson was also my gymnastics coach at that time and encouraged me to try the sport. When I went to Augsburg College, she was a judge at the gymnastics meets I was in. Again, she was encouraging and always happy to see a former student.
I became a PHysical Education teacher and kept up with her periodically throughout the years.
Currently I teach at Orono Middle School where Aaron, her son, is the Hockey coach. It sure is a small world, and her ripples have affected many people's lives- including mine.
Recently Mrs. Johnson, my twin sister ,and I received our letters at Augsburg College in a special night honoring women athletes at Augsburg who did not receive letters in the past. I reconnected with Mrs. Johnson and we had our pictures taken together. I will cherish this picture and the memories of her, as I reminise about how she influenced my life because she was my teacher in 7th and 8th grade.
I have taught now for 29 years, and her influence is a big part of who I am today. Each day I work, I try to exhibit the same smile and concern for students that she exhibited to me. She made me feel comfortable, and challenged me to be an athlete.
I want to extend my deepest sympathy for your entire family.

To the entire Johnson family,
My heart breaks at the news of Lois' passing. I worked with her in Osseo and at the MSCA conference. We have maintained a friendship over the past 7 years and I am deeply sorry the world has lost such an angel. I hope you take comfort in knowing the world is a better place because of your mother, wife, and grandmother. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you as I will always remember Lois with the fondest memories. Love, Marianna Sullivan

I was so sad to hear of Lois's passing. She was so determined to beat the cancer.
She was a wonderful person to talk to for parenting advise, when she was at St. Alphonsus.

I worked with Lois and am so fortunate to be touched by her humor, her perspective (once again, humor), basically, her down to earth, say it like it is and laugh out loud zest for life. No matter what she was going thru...she was there receiving her treatment and serving cookies and tea to others who were receiving their chemotherapy...uplifting others by her wit ,lightening their loads with laughter, breaking the staleness of the air and the ice of the situation... and allowing them to make treatments more than the infusion, more bearable, a time for smiles and peace...making that possible was Lois Johnson. She was the light...maybe cliche, but not so much when true..she brought people together, conversing..sharing fears and experiences I think that sums it up about Lois, thoughtful and comforting, yet head-on engaging and guess what cancer sucks.
I know your loss is hard...and it doesn't quite always ease, but I wish for you in time to find comfort and solace in how wonderful and lucky it was and is to have her as your mom and wife and grandmother! I choose this profession because of people like Lois...who touch me in a way that I can grab a ray of her light and send it forth on and on. What a blessing and what a fortune to have Lois in your life.

To the Johnson family.
We first met Lois when our sons played junior hockey in Waterloo. Always ejoyed conversation with her during and after the games we attended. Our paths crossed again when our sons played hockey at Michigan Tech. Enjoyed going out for dinner after the games. She always added to the fun. The last time we ran into one another was at a hockey game, St. Norbert vs Augusburg. You never know where life will take you, but we were fortunate to know Lois and her family. Over the years, we have met many people because of hockey. Lois will always be someone we will remember.
Please accept our sympathy for your loss. You are in our thoughts.

Bruce and family,
What an amazing woman Lois was in life. What an amazing legacy she leaves with you now -- a shining example of openness and zest for life and all that she did to encourage these same things in everyone she met. She was an encourager. I’m sure this was evident to the people she met as an educator, but it was unmistakably evident when it came to supporting her family and the activities you were all involved with. That enthusiasm was contagious! It made a difference in my life. I’m sure it has made a difference for others too. The days ahead will be layered with all sorts of people and emotions, sadness and laughter. Remember everything that made Lois shine. I drive past your house many times a week, and I told Lois I offered a prayer for her and her family each time I drove by, a practice I shall continue. May the love of our wonderful God wrap you now in his comfort as God continues to hold Lois in loving arms.

To Bruce and family, I am sorry for your loss. Having gone through a similar situation with my Mom this summer, I know how difficult this time can be for you.
On occasion, I had an opportunity to see Bruce at different hockey events during the last couple of years. Bruce updated me on Lois's progress. She fought her battle against cancer with great courage and hope.
I remember Lois as a great supporter of Armstrong Hockey. Even when her kids weren't on the teams Lois was there cheering on the Falcons. She was an impressive lady.
God Bless Lois and her family

Dear Bruce, Leah, Thomas, Aaron, your families and especially those sweetest of Grandboys! Lois was a very special friend to me but especially to my husband, Paul. Their relationship goes back to 2nd grade at Castle Rock school and all the fun times in the Bright Stars 4-H club, the ball games, the meetings, the Dakota County fair....a healthy nourishing friendship that lasted throughout High School....and most recently rekindled in adulthood sharing stories of spouses and children (lots of hockey!) Always pride and fond remembrances of fun and family times growing up in such an unique community like Castle Rock. I'm so comforted to know Paul and Lois had one last long conversation in early November. Through my tears I can smile when I remember a very special, strong, courageous wife mother, GRANDMOTHER, and friend. Love The Boyums

Lois has been in my thoughts so much these past few months while I've been so far from home. She sent me away with an angel to protect me on my travels and I will never forget that. We were looking forward to seeing her on oyster night, only a couple weeks away.
