Linda Mackarey Lee

Linda Lee Obituary

Linda Mackarey Lee of West Scranton died Thursday evening in the Mercy Hospital after being stricken ill. She and her husband, Robin M. Lee, celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary Feb. 6.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John "Colonel" Sr. and Rosemarie Joseph Mackarey, she was educated in Scranton schools and was a 1977 graduate of West Scranton High School. She was also a graduate of Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture, New York City. She had been employed as a hair and makeup artist in various stage productions in New York City. She then moved to Southern California, where she was employed by Michele International Hair Salon. She returned to Scranton in 1988 to start and raise her family. She had been employed by numerous area hair salons.

In 1994, she founded and managed Linda Lee's Hair Salon, North Main Avenue, West Scranton. She became a color educator for Framesi's Hair Products for Northeastern Pennsylvania. She was presently employed by Christopher's Salon and Day Spa of Scranton. She was a very active member of St. Ann's Maronite Church and Our Lady of Queen of Peace Sodality. She also did volunteer work at the Lackawanna County Prison.

Linda was the most selfless and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend — some might say a saint in her own time. Her amazing charisma and captivating laugh will be missed by all that loved her. Linda's sweet smile and generosity made her special and loved by all that she touched.

Also surviving are a daughter, Natasha and a son, Alex, both at home; four sisters, Maria, Scranton; Joanne Coyne and husband, Brian, Scranton; Michele Petroziello and husband, Dave, Elmhurst; and Rosemarie Magalski and husband, Kevin; three brothers, Bud and wife, Melanie, Clarks Summit; Joseph and wife, Linda, Moscow; and Albert and wife, Dr. Maria, Clarks Summit; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with funeral liturgy at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann Maronite Church by the Rev. Francis J. Marini, pastor. Interment, Sacred Heart Cemetery, West Scranton. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Incense service will be at 7 on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linda Mackarey Lee's Children Education Fund, c/o Pennstar Bank, 130 N. Keyser Ave., Scranton, PA 18504.

Linda was one of the most caring people I have ever met.
She knew just when to offer a listening ear, a kind thought, an encouraging word.
She could also make you laugh so hard you doubled over in her chair.
She not only made you look beautiful, she made you feel beautiful.
Her husband and children were the loves of her life.
Rest in God's peace, Linda

Robin,Natasha & Alex; it’s always a shock when someone is abruptly taken from us so prematurely. It’s doubly shocking when a person who loved and lived life with the enthusiasm that Linda exemplified is no longer with us. Not only was Linda an outstanding professional in her chosen field, she was a wonderful and dear friend to me and my family; and as such, she will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all who knew and loved her.

Robin, Natasha, Alex and Mackarey Family. Linda was one of the most awesome women I have ever met. My husband passed away from ALS a year ago. Linda came up almost once a month to cut my 35 yr old husbands hair because she knew how good he felt and looked when she did that for him. She took time from her busy schedule for someone else's happiness. But that was Linda..she was wonder woman in my eyes! You will be sadly missed my friend :-O

Linda

The morning is calm
as birds speak in whispers
A silent luminescent fog
shares the dawn as we bare witness

We think of home
though weather foul and fair
Replace it not, for as you know
how timeless is this space we share

The fog assends... dissipates
a triumph bitter-sweet
Euphoria. anguish. words cannot relate
pray-you, may peace fall over thee.
