Dear Jean
I have just learned of Bill's passing and am truly sorry. You may not remember me but he was my boss at Commercial Credit and one of the finest men I ever worked for. I hope you and Missy are doing well under the circumstances. You both will be in my thoughts.

To the Strauss Family
I work for a service that Bill used to get credit reports on Eck
Supplys customers. I have worked there for 34 years and have known Bill through those years. He called me the "Queen Bee" because of my tenure with my company. He was a professional businessman and a gentleman. He would often give the new hires a fright, but always in a joking way. I will miss his calling our office and I will miss
him.

Bill Strauss was a fine gentleman, coworker, friend and to me almost like a second father. I was fortunate to know Bill over the last 10 years. Whether it was talking about credit matters, his RedSox, Jeff Gordon / Nascar, Benedictine sports, his Detroit Lions that always struggled, my kids sports teams or Jean taking up the piano a few years ago, he was always sincere and always cared. On many occassions over the years, I would be coaching my kids teams and I would see Bill quietly come out to watch with a caring eye and he was always willing to talk about the game and give me his feedback. When we were fortunate enough to travel out of state to play in a regional tournament, Bill always wanted a call to know the results. Similar to those times when he couldn't be there in person, now that he's no longer with us here on Earth, we will all continue to feel Bill's spirit and his support in all that we do each day. He will certainly be missed by all of us at Eck Supply and we will all carry Bill in our hearts going forward. Our sympathy goes out to Jean, Missy and Joe along with the rest of the family. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. We will all certainly miss him.

Sorrow comes in many ways but the death of such a good man comes as not only sorrow but a loss that will last for many years and many memories. Please know that I keep you all in my thoughts and prayers at this time and that I will miss Bill and our brief conversations -especially during baseball season since I was born and raised in New York and we all know when Bill and I talked baseball not only the accents were different but the choice of teams was REALLY something else. Bill was a wonderful person I will miss his laugh and the good man he was.

Uncle Bill, will be surely missed, but to be absent from this world is to be present with GOD. His impact on my life will be forever remembered.

I had the opportunity to meet
Bill only once in Harrisonburg shortly after my hire with the company about four years ago. From then on our contact was by phone or email. We often shared our love of nascar and would often give each other a hard time him being a Jeff fan and me a fan of Dale Jr.. I will truly miss Bill and our relationship. I'm sorry that I will be unable to attend any of the services. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
