Evora Hill Obituary

Published by Manning Funeral Home from Aug. 9 to Aug. 12, 2008.
HILL, Mrs. Evora Lee Arrington, entered eternal rest on August 8, 2008 at Johnston-Willis Hospital after a long illness. Evora was born November 17, 1932 in Nash County, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Deacon John P. and Mrs. Rosa Bell Arrington. She attended and finished high school in Nash County, N.C. At an early age, Evora joined Shiloh Missionary Church where she became the pianist and the director of the choir. After moving to Richmond, Va., she was the founder of a children's community Bible class, where she would gather neighborhood children in her van and take them to her sister, Jean Hudson's home for a two-hour Bible class. She loved to travel and play the organ and piano at different church activities. She later joined Faith Landmark Ministries. She was a godly woman who loved the Lord. Evora attended the Medical College of Virginia, where she received her license as an LPN. She furthered her education at John Tyler Community College, where she received two degrees in the medical field (Adult Home Administration and Pharmaceutical Medical License). She also received a Certificate of Reflexology. Evora worked at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital as a nurse. She later retired from Beth Sholom Nursing Home after 30 years of service. Evora was a humble, faithful, loving wife and mother that taught her children to love one another, love the Lord and the importance of education. She was preceded in death by her brother, McKinley Arrington. She leaves a husband, Junius M. Hill; six sons, Junius J. (Gail) of Cary, N.C., Carvis L. of Charlotte, N.C., Jarvis L. (Annie), Kinley E. (Debra), Ervin L., and Kelvin D. (Cynthia), all of Richmond, Va.; one daughter, China J. Archer (Alvin) of Petersburg, Va.; and three stepchildren, numerous grand and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillie B. Coley of Tarboro, N.C. and Earnest J. Hudson of Richmond, Va.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where the family will receive friends Tuesday (today), from 7 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon. Burial Riverview Cemetery.

To The Hill Family,

Just wanted to share a few words of comfort with you all as your wife, mother, and grandmother enter into eternal rest. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4) May it be a source of inner strength to know that there’s a loving God watching over you, and that, throughout this time of need, He’ll stay close by your side. You are held in gentle thoughts and prayers.
