I had the good fortune to work down the hall from Dr. May for many years. Everette was always kind and thoughtful to everyone. His commitment to his scientific career was an inspiration to me, as I told him many times. He made important contributions to his field and was very well respected by all.

His family will be in our thoughts during this difficult time. Dr. May will be long remembered, and greatly missed by his colleagues and friends worldwide.

Mrs. May and Family, you have our deepest condolences. I can not express the sadness I feel for your loss. Dr.May was a wonderful person and a great friend. He would always give me a hug whenever he saw me and ask how I was doing. I will miss that. May your hearts be filled with warm throughts and treasured moments of your dearly departed.

Helen,
Words cannot express how saddened Jay and I were to hear about Everette. He was the personification of a "gentleman" and our lives are much richer for knowing him. We love you and have you in our thoughts. Hope to see you soon.

With the exception of my own parents, no one has had as much of an influence on me as Dr. May. From the mechanics of research, to the art of intellectual inquiry, to the path for a good, honorable, and decent life, Dr. May has and will continue to be my mentor. My deepest sympathies to Mrs. May and all his family.

Helen:

Darryl and I will truly miss Everette and learning so much from him about his research. It amazed me that he was still working and able to enjoy life to the fullest. He was a blessing to both of us.

We love you and will definately keep in touch with you.

Love,
Darryl and Annette Hollingsworth

Helen and family,
Those of us who are your friends and academic 'family' can never express the sadness we feel at the loss of our friend and colleague, and I know it can never be as great as that of wife and children. However, please know that the decade I spent at MCV and the many dinners and events we attended with you and Everette are remembered with great fondness. We are sad with you and offer our deepest condolences.
Love,
David Compton & Tracey Spriggs
