Ann Cooper Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Aug. 15 to Aug. 16, 2008.
COOPER, Ann Marguerite (Schlosser), 88, of Midlothian, formerly of New York City, Cutchogue, N.Y., and Fort Pierce, Fla., died August 14, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Cornelius H. Cooper. She is survived by three sons, Neil Cooper and wife, Ann, of Roslyn Heights, N.Y., Michael Cooper and wife, Susan, of Newton, N.J., and Kevin Cooper and wife, Lynne, of Midlothian; and a sister, Joan Schlosser, of Bothell, Wash. She was the grandmother of seven grandchildren, Eric, Abby, Kathleen, Bonnie, Peter, Neile Ann and Lauren; and eight great-grandchildren, Caroline, Megan, Julia, Natalie, Joshua, Shannon, Maria and Tara. Ann graduated from high school at age 16 and immediately went to work as a secretary in New York City. After the birth of her sons, she became a full-time homemaker. She loved words, reading and crossword puzzles. Even at age 88 she was telling about new words she had just learned or hadn't heard used in 50 years. The term "lifelong learner" was tailor-made for Ann. She was also an excellent cook and baker and was proficient at painting and needle crafts. As a resident of Brandermill Woods for over 10 years, she made countless friends among residents and staff. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 16, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Epiphany, 11000 Smoketree Drive, in Chesterfield County with a reception immediately following. All are welcome to attend. Visitation and burial will be private.
