Lois M. Newton

NEWTON, Lois M., 88, formerly of Colonial Beach, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 in Mechanicsville. She was the widow of Carl G. Newton. Mrs. Newton was a homemaker, a member of Colonial Beach Baptist Church, and a charter member of the Colonial Beach Historical Society. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Woodzell and her husband, Stephen, of Springfield, and Lora Hayes of Mechanicsville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, with the Rev. Johnny Almond officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Oak Grove. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 18, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Virginia.
